Special concert-related prediction:

Somewhere in the Uptown/East End area there will be a mid-size concert venue. I don't know exactly how or where, but it makes too much sense not to happen.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

I think a big portion of the East End is already a pretty good gayborhood. Lawrenceville is a natural extension.

Maybe to go with the new Arena they will build a new House of Blues with a ballroom maybe? Either that or reopen the New Granada on the Hill and use that for a concert venue geared toward the African American community.

I have to agree about the HOB.

At least something like the HOB (if not HOB itself) makes sense for the Uptown area.

For what its worth, here are my predictions for the next decade:

-A town center-like mall opens in Cranberry.
-Butler remains the fastest growing county in the region.
-Allegheny Center is torn down and an East Liberty-like transformation ensues.
-The redevelopment of Allegheny Center and the new mall in Cranberry bleed retail from McKnight Rd, doing to that corridor what the Waterworks and South Side Works did to the PA 51 corridor.
-The metropolitan region grows, but the population of Pittsburgh continues to shrink, albeit at a slower rate.
-Small towns within easy commute of downtown, the airport or Cranberry actually begin growing again: Wilkinsburg, Bellevue, McKees Rocks, Coraopolis, Swissvale, Braddock, Crafton, Carnegie, Rochester, Ambridge, New Brighton, Monaca and Beaver.
-The government of the City of Pittsburgh will refuse to reduce spending and continue to whine about how it is being bled by everyone else. Their solution will be to try to convince the state legislature to tax non-profits and commuters.

-- The Bluff/ Uptown area will see increased revitalization.

-- East Liberty's historic business district will receive a much-needed facelift.

-- Gradual improvements should be noted in Wilkinsburg, Homestead, and Braddock.

-- Manchester will become the next gentrified north side neighborhood.

-- The reinvention of the Roxian theater will bring renewed interest to Mckees Rocks.

-- More condo developments in historic buildings will take place in the Strip and downtown.

-- Many of the abandoned historic school buildings, such as Schenley High, Fifth Ave School, and South Side School will be redeveloped successfully into condos or loft apartments.

-- The revitalization of Market Square and Fifth Avenue will spread to Wood Street and Smithfield, where many historic buildings will receive restored facades and new boutique style stores. Downtown will no longer close at 5pm.

Next time the Steelers win the Super Bowl, the whole team goes on a promotional tour throughout the US (and world maybe) to help promote the city.

Hey, that's the least they can do for us.

Predictions for Braddock:

Carrie Furnace site renovates with the help of local artists and becoems a new hipster hub. New coffee shops, book stores, artist supply shops and eateries open along Braddock Ave. Pharmacies, a GetGo and a grocery store finally reopen.

The Library Music Hall reopens for concerts and theater performances.

Braddock Hospital is sold to West Penn (yes saved!)

Finally a new marina opens alongside the furnace.
