Also the National Hispanic Media Coalition complained to the FCC about..
"Hate Speech"aka people supporting enforcement on Illegal Immigration.
The Coalition includes groups like La Raza wants the FCC to shut down..
Speech it doesnt like on Tv and Radio.
They want to use our tax money to bail out failing leftist media..
At the same time working on things like the fairness doctrine.
This should not even be allowed or legal. How can they just give tax money to liberal media? That is discrmination to the 10th degree. Not surprising though, this entire administration discriminates on a daily basis.
The words "Reinvention of Journalism" coming from ANY government source should be enough cause for a rebellion by the masses. Yes, it's that serious folks.
The numerous little pieces of freedom that keep being chipped away by our government will ultimately create a pile big enough to cause the people to revolt. I have no doubts whatsoever. The United States is collapsing under the weight of its own government. Mark my words.
I didn't read the whole document but the end summary recommendations aren't talking about giving government money to so-called left wing media. The main points seem to be to make it easier for news organizations to compete in this internet age.
Potential Policy Recommendations for the June 15th meeting:
Quote:
1. Identify news organizations as an example for program-related investments under IRS regulations. In March 2010, the ABA’s Section on Taxation filed comments with the IRS proposing examples to supplement existing guidance in Regulation §53.4994-3(b) related to PRIs.
2. Promote the Consideration of News Entities as Flexible Purpose or Benefit Corporations. Promoting benefit and flexible purpose corporate designs might encourage greater investment in news organizations.
3. Promote federal and state partnerships to resolve regulatory hurdles that prevent development and investment in socially oriented LLCs, including L3Cs, seeking tax-exempt and non-tax-exempt funding. LLCs, including L3C entities, would benefit from a “safe harbor” that would specify actions an L3C and foundation could take to qualify for a presumption that the PRI qualifies under federal tax law.
News organizations aren't doing well and are in danger of becoming extinct. Do we really want internet rumor to be all we've got to tell us what is going on in the world?

Other news organizations will emerge. Businesses rise and collapse, and this version of "journalism" needs to and will inevitably collapse.

Wow. You probably should read more of the document. Your high-level take on what it actually says plays right into the hands of the government. They LIKE people like you who don't read their documents!
The document explicitly lays out the idea of publicly funding news sources. No matter what your idea of what "news" or "rumor" is, government has no business interfering with either.
It's sad that people come along and play right into the governments hand like you apparently have here.
