I wonder how many Conservative Reagan Republicans realize that his approval ratings at this point in his Presidency were actually LOWER than Obama's? Obama's current job approval stands at 49%. http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx During Reagan's second year his approvals were in the low 40's. Reagan did not inherit half problems Obama inherited from the George W Bush.
"Things got worse for Reagan in 1982. The public's view of the economy remained sour, and the president's ratings during 1982 stayed concomitantly low, in the 40% range, ending the year at 41%. The 1982 midterm elections were not good ones for Reagan and for the GOP. The Republicans lost about 25 seats in the House."

So what? Ultimtely the economy rocketed because of his actions. His actions were the complete opposite of the actions of the Obama administration and people understand what the results will be.

Obama would consider it a great victory if he only lost 25 seat, twice that is likely 100 is even in the realm of possibility.

By the way, you can't re-write history. When Reagan took office te Iranian hostage crisis ended, (as he was being inaugurated) interest rates were in double digits, the economy was in the dumps. Things were every bit as bad as they are today.

I'm with shorebaby...so what?

Are you saying it doesn't matter what he does because so far he isn't as unpopular as past presidents? Is popularity the only that that matters because if it is Lady Gaga may very well be our next POTUS

So what? It doesn't matter to Republicans that their demi god Reagan had LOWER approvals than the so called " nazi, socialist Obama"? How wonderfully convenient!

Well, the gap is not really too large anyway, especially when taking into consideration that Gallup notes a +/-3% margin of error in presidential approval ratings, and Obama was as low as 44% only a few days ago. Keep in mind that at this point in his presidency, Bush was in the high 60s in approval ratings.

So please excuse anyone for not paying much attention to any short term trends.

Reagan tho sweep to a landslide by his second terms. The democrtas for Reagan was a real eye opener seldom seen since the FDR days. He quickly turned a Nixion disaster for the republican party,. Remmebr that Carter was sweep into office by watergate and only lasted one term.He was pretty much a lame duck president a year before he loss office to Reagan.

Yeah, so what? Among who?

Reagan was in the forties, so is Obama. Making a mountain out of a molehill, huh?

OH, BUT A 1% MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!

So? Reagan got the economy running again and was re-elected, heck he took a bullet in his first year! Obama has stumbled and read teleprompters this whole time.

And I'm not even a Reagan Republican, but a Conservative Independent.
