It's kind of funny you accuse liberals of thinking they're right, cause...doesn't everyone believe they're right in believing whatever it is they believe? That's why they believe it.
People don't believe in things they don't think are right. It's not a left/right thing, it's just the nature of belief itself.
Of course people believe what they hold to be true. That is what we call ignorance, rather than being informed.
Read the history of political correctness and you will find that it is a marxist tool that was created by Stalin to stifle free speech and control the population. That is what liberalism is all about.
Now if someone knows that PC is based in the tyranny and evil of Stalin, and simply chooses to embrace that philiosophy, as they hold dear the principles of authoritarian socialism and despise liberty, then that is okay. Some people cannot stand the responsibility of freedom and the fact that one may fail in a free system- freedom does not guarantee success. Those who cannot compete or lack the courage to live free embrace the cold shell of tyranny as a refuge. That is what liberalism is all about- submitting one's personal freedom in exchange for cold comfort and economic support. It is the refuge of cowards and the lethargic. It is just amusing that liberals have the audacity to imply that they support principles of freedom and liberty, while embracing the tools and policy of forces strongly opposed to democracy and the notion of personal responsibility. They are either very clever at disguising thier true intentions or are very gullible fools.
Don't ignore the history of PC language and liberalism. It is based in the tyranny of Stalin and is direct opposition to the basic principles of the Constitution. Why not embrace the words of Jefferson and Washington instead of Stalin? It would seem an easy choice to a sane man.
seems jennifer anniston stepped in it as well.....here is what the special olympics statement about the word.
"Special Olympics is always disappointed when the R-word is used, especially by someone who is influential to society. The pervasive use of the R-word, even in an off the cuff self-deprecating manner, dehumanizes people with intellectual disabilities and perpetuates painful stereotypes that are a great source of suffering and negative stigma ... We hope everyone will take our pledge to stop using the R-word and promote the inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities at www.r-word.org."
This makes me mad because only people such as the Special Olympics and Palin and PC "loons" (uh-oh, a possible reference to mentally challenged people again) are the ones making an association of the legitimate word "retarded" to a group of kids with disabilities. Jennifer Anniston was only talking about herself as basically being a slow, backwards doofus ("retard") and was not making any association to kids with disabilities. It it those people who are making the association that should be frowned upon. Jennifer made no such reference.
My daugter's growth was retarded due to a cracked growth plate in her leg. Am I referring to mentally disabled children? No.
Retarded usually means underdeveloped mentally, socially, emotionally, physically, or academically. It's not really a pejorative or misleading word when used in most cases even when it is used to describe a person acting like a fool. However, parents of children with special needs are probably extremely sensitive to it because they are still in denial about their children having special needs and developmental problems. It's a great blow to the ego of the parents and to the children. The holistic and reliable treatment of the individual and group is what matters, not the use or misuse of certain words at random times.

When it gets right down to it, I think a phrase used by my father puts the whole thing in perspective. - "You can call me anything but too late for supper."

Loons are birds. I believe the above is splitting hairs. I don't like "retarded" unless it refers to somenone who is retarded.
Deranged also apparently is a non PC term. Go to France or Quebec and guess what the "do not disturb" sign says in French...
