My take: He should have redecorated it earlier, not because it was bad but because you need to put your own stamp on things when you're in charge. I don't know if Obama wanted to give the impression that things weren't changing but it did add to the belief that his was a continuation of the Bush administration. Bush's office was a little drab, tasteful but professional. That sunburst carpet was classic, though. Laura Bush gets a thumbs up for that.
Obama's new office: Too gold/yellow. The best addition is the Seal of the United states, very conservative and still powerful. The new office is not an improvement, but there's enough of the original pieces there to contrast with the bad color scheme. That tile coffee table is pretty bad. Drudge had a good linkup.
So let's start with the " He's wasting tax payer's money" or " All he can do is redecorate" or "Why bother when he's gone in 2 years?" or " What does it matter its his office?"
I like his carpet with the seal on it, and the quotes that go around the edges. One quote is "for the people, by the people;" which shows he does know what he should be doing, even if he has been doing the exact opposite.

The new Oval Office was designed by a gay man - for those who care.

Obviously he was pre occupied with other things other than redocorating when he took office.
Then he can legally take the new furniture with him when he leaves. Better than the way the Clintons left at the end of Billy's term.

Do you mean that now with Obama in there we don't own the office and the whole house anymore. I knew there was a lot going on but didn't know about that one.

Yes and taking into account that the Bush administration was still in the dark ages technoogy wise, there were far more important things to update.

Omigod. And I thought it was not fair to make things like that known. Who really gives a damn if the man is gay? Sure not me.

Yep, he was busy reading up on what the Bush plan would have him do.
