Personally, I am an Atheist and very, very pro-gun. I have a number of gun owning friends, as you can imagine, and non are particularly religious though only a couple are also Atheists.
I am probably the least power or control oriented individual I know and am pro-gun so miyu's post is a bit too general. As with most generalities, it really doesn't hold too much water.

I'm 100% pro constitution, that means I support a person's right to defend themselves, their family and their property by whatever means possible and I also support a person's right to practice whatever religion they might choose.

Strongly pro-gun athiest here. I would tend to be a bit concerned when mysticism, superstition and guns mix.

I had the perception that most gun advocates where more religious. Because the red states are typically pro-gun, and also typically more religious. In my experience the gun owners are usually "God Fearing" people.
But the OP's poll does not seem to be reflecting that.
