In his column today Dennis Prager thanks Obama for providing the country with moral and political clarity. By that he means that Obama's extremism helped America understand the progressive project for what it is and, understanding, the people woke up and resisted the encroachment of government on the liberties of Americans and the powers of the states.

For a hundred years in this country liberals/progressives have conspired and actively worked to steal the birthright of free Americans. I use the term "birthright" as a deliberate allusion to the biblical story of Esau and Jacob. If you are unfamiliar with the story you should read it. In summary Esau, the first-born of Isaac, sold his birthright to his younger brother, Jacob, for a meal of venison stew. The stew was made of game that Esau himself had hunted and killed. In other words Esau gave Jacob the very means to defraud him of his birthright.

In the same way we have been selling our birthright of freedom to the liberals/progressives in exchange for social programs paid for with the fruits of our labor. What is our birthright? Freedom. We paid for that freedom with a heavy price in blood and treasure. But bit by bit, slowly over the course of 100 years, the liberals/progressives have stolen our freedom as they worked to transform our limited government, constitutionally established, to one of unlimited power and scope that reaches into every aspect of our lives. George III did not exercise the control over the American colonies that government--both federal and state--now exercises over us.

Until Obama, the American people were like the proverbial frog in the pot of water being boiled to death by degree. Obama talked about fundamentally transforming America. But that transormation has largely occurred, slowly and unnoticed, over the course of a century. Obama's exremism only awakened the unwary frog and it jumped out of the kettle.

What pundits fail to appreciate is that the resistance to Obama and the Dems is not merely dissatisfaction with specific policies like Obamacare or the Stimulus. It goes deeper than that. It is resistance to a movement whose direction the American people are coming to understand poses a clear and present danger to our republican form of government and the liberties that government was created to protect and foster. So it's less about Obama and specific members of Congress or about political parties. Because the movement has proceeded under both Democrat and Republican administrations.

Right now the country is intent on giving the Republicans the task of righting the ship of state, of reversing course. But I believe the Republicans will find that they are on a short leash and if they fail to make substantial progress in dismantling the progressive project they, too, will face the wrath of the voters. The time of unlimited government has come to an end and Americans are reclaiming their birthright.

I seriously doubt that any group of lawyer/politicians can reclaim this birthright but it is frightening to think that even God knew that the sight of blood was the only thing that was capable of eliciting real understanding in humans.

Wait, you feel entailed to something by just being born in the US instead of working hard for it?

No, I am entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness simply by virtue of being a child of God. Read the Declaration of Independence.

??

In reality, humans are guaranteed ZERO "Rights". Neither Civil Rights, Natural Rights, Human Rights, Constitutional Rights, or otherwise.

We keep (and deserve) only those we monitor, protect, defend, and are willing to fight for.

The persecuted, deprived, denigrated mass of humanity across the Globe, MUST confront and hold accountable their venal Leaders and oppressors.

Until they do so, with determination to fight with their very lives---the mere claim to "Rights" is empty, worthless...a figment of imagination.

Liberty in the human realm resides where the strong, the committed, and the brave stand eternally vigilant.

Here in the USA, because of complacency, and a foolish presumption of "inalienable Rights", we may come to understand too late---few things are absolute, or guaranteed.

What has Obama done that is more extremist or unAmerican than what's already been widely accepted for decades, such as Social Security and Medicaid?

Some conservatives seem to want to measure freedom on the basis of how much the taxes are, the higher the taxes, the less freedom. But if we abolished taxes, we would still be shelling out money, this time to the private enterprises that replaced government tax supported services. And constantly being bombarded by requests from private charities to help them help the poor.

Oh the horror, those evil charities.
