Has anyone noticed that the attention seems to go right from Halloween straight to Christmas nowadays? There's hardly any mention of Thanksigiving anymore. I've heard a lot about Black Friday and it's not even Halloween yet! We're paying more attention to a stupid shopping spree that is built on greed and money than a nice holiday. Have people lost respect for Thanksgiving? I think it's a little sad, considering that Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays in our country. It's also a special time for families to spend together.

What has happened to Thanksgiving?

When, precisely, was the last time you had your hand up a turkey's ass?

Since I am not religious in the traditional sense, the whole concept of "thanking" someone (or something) is rather stupid. Thanksgiving has always been just another excuse to not go to work and pig out. LOL In consumer-based America Thanksgiving is getting to be nothing more than the official "kick off" to the Xmas shopping season.

I would say that if we were to celebrate it, we should do so under th auspices that it very well might have been the LAST TIME that Native Americans were treated with respect by Europeans.

Was your turkey dead or alive, at the time?

I think that we now see one very poor reason to forget Thanksgiving.

Now we have seen the atheist reasoning for not celebrating Thanksgiving. Of course, you won't be alone here.

I think that you got two atheist replies pretty fast and should be able to see much of what has happened to Thanksgiving. I agree with you about the day and my family does really enjoy coming to mom's for that one big meal that always has plenty left over for a late evening meal, also.

It is the reason for Thanksgiving that doesn't agree with many of our immigrants (Muslims), atheists and other Christian dislikers, and so on and on. It is too bad that Black Friday had to come into existence but I sure loved that day also when I was younger. Hell, I love to get among the crowds of that day even now.

I'm not all that religious, but I love to eat. There's no way in heck I'd skip Thanksgiving for that reason alone.

I give thanks to some brave men and women that set sail across the ocean, into the unknown.
I'm Thankful GOD directed them to Plymouth.
I'm also thankful, GOD created TEXAS!

Uhh.. Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday. I guess in some peoples' worlds, everything is Christian. No wonder they'd prefer to live in a theocracy.

Thanksgiving is surely not a religious holiday, but the celebration that started the practice by those Pilgrims certainly was religious and I think that many people today use that to be against Thanksgiving.

I wonder how many here remember the days when Thanksgiving was a revered holiday and not just the day before Black Friday.
