Yea...but you're obviously earning less too...a lot less, so it's all relative.

Apparently the 18Bn was a lowballing of the Texas shortfall. Its more like 25 Billion and liable to go up if the economy doesn't pick up. Not to mention that the state comptroller seems to be in denial.

Because their jobs are relocating to business friendly Texas. And why wouldn't we be business friendly? We receive more corporate welfare than most states.

Amazing how everyone on C-D is so loaded. BTW...what did i say about Dallas that was inaccurate? The other Dallas resident basically agreed with me.
Really? How would it be 'obvious' that everyone was loaded? The whole point is that people can buy things on credit, have no savings, and seem like they have more than they do.

Yes, some people do.
I earn more than my CA counterparts. In fact, almost every single one of my colleagues does better here.
My brother, bc his company is international and has many locations in the U.S., is paid the same base rate as anyone else at his level no matter where they work. Same is true for my wife.
So it really depends. Many people I know can reap the double reward of higher salary and lower housing/overall expenses.

Yes, that's the problem with Texas. They ignored that little fact in the more prosperous areas of the state, they failed to see that millions coming over that border were coming to get on welfare programs, have breeding rates the same as rabbits.

Texas has a major problem because contrary to popular opinion, illegals aren't coming to pay income taxes and social security taxes so the population is exploding while the tax base is dwindling.

In many parts of Texas children born into welfare programs far outnumber those who are born to taxpayers. In many schools over 85% of the students are on the free meals plan because their families live off food stamps, Medicaid and other handouts.

Default Will conservatives admit Republican controlled Texas is as big of a failure as California?

But California was a LOT more honest about theirs. We didn't get the news until after Rick Perry won re-election.
