Not everyone can work for themselves. All different people make up the world..you cannot just say "go work for yourself" and voila..they are an LLC.

There are janitors that love being janitors and wouldn't know what else to do and they are good at what they do, happy doing it and don't want to do anything else. Now fire that guy and he's like a fish out of water.

You cannot snap your fingers and become someone else. Life doesn't work like that.

Very true. People are creatures of habit and the older we get the more difficult change becomes.

And also..some people just don't have business smarts nor do they want to have the burden of running a business.

I never had the urge to own my own business; was quite content to get that paycheck from the "Corporation".

My brother though has a corporate job that has fed his various startups over the years. Once he finds his niche though..it's bye-bye corporate world.

You don't have to become someone else and no, it's not easy to work for yourself but if you need to make ends meet, you do it. You don't need to be an LLC, the two businesses I owned previously were not and when I was a freelancer I was not.

Being a freelance writer is not about business smarts, it's about being able to research well and put your research into words, or at least that's the type of writing I did. The only business aspect of it is keeping your household bills and being able to write off part of them if you work from home.

The whole point remains that work is available if one chooses to find it.

If there was all this work out there, people would be doing it. Believe it or not, there are plenty of Republican "personal responsibility" types out of work, too. There are several in my neighborhood.

It's funny how their smugly superior attitudes change when they get the axe......especially when their health insurance flies out the window...........

I know my neighbors have taken advantage of everything possible. Who wouldn't? They even ran into each other at a networking meeting.

Did they exchange information about personal responsibility?

Tell them to look for a writing gig. Google it and see how much you come up with. Or try "freelance writing."
