Amid all the cries to cut the debt and deficit spending, even talks now of cutting back on military spending, would you be willing to cut 3+ billion a year? This is of course the most conservative estimate of foreign aid to Israel, which doesn't include loan guarantees converted to grants, or the interest that is accrued since Israel unlike any other nation receives its foreign aid in a lump sum, to which the US then pays interest on through the rest of the year.

This is one third of the total US foreign aid budget, which the rest divided between Egypt, Jordan, and the Ukraine and a handful of other nations. Between Israel, Egypt and Jordan, this represents about 2/3 of the total budget.

While the debt reduction committee floats the idea that we should freeze soldiers pay, there is talk of increasing foreign aid to Israel, not including the recent multi-billion dollar give away in arms, free of charge.

Well, I'm up for that - I'd cut it all off, Israel itself is actually a well-off country with considerable export/money earning muscle (I worked there 15 years ago). I'm sure they'll manage without us holding their hand.

Sadly, not gonna happen in the near future - the lobby and the our own American Christian-'End of Days' fundies who number in millions in their mega chruches excersize way too much power over our politicians.

I certainly have no qualms about cutting everyone off, but there is a reason I specified Israel in this thread, to which will likely be disclosed later.

I have noted the outrage, then glee over cutting 40 million from NPR, which I could really care less about. I've noted those folks who were shocked and appalled over 150 million in aid given to the Palestinians. I've noted the displeasure with freezing soldiers pay, and I've seen outrage over arms sales to Saudi Arabia. So the question here is simply, would you like to save nearly 3 million dollars a day, every day, which in fact is a great deal more but this is a conservative estimate.

If I were a newly elected person to congress my view would be .....everything is on the table, I am always amused when the discussion of spending cuts is raised and people will ultimately say , "yeah but that is only 40 million a year" or whatever it may be, there is so much waste and pork, and things the government has no business doing that even if it is 1 million here and a million there, you add it up and it makes it a lot easier to take care of our priorities.

I am all for it. One of the few things in which I agree with Ron Paul

true,

that is a big problem, but its not just israel

our progressive liberals want to keep GIVING (as opposed to a 0% loan that HAS to be paid back) to foreign countries and the UN all the time

look at the billions given to Haiti, and I dont mean just this year

reps to you

I am proud to be the first to vote INCREASE foreign aid to Israel (if they need it). With all the haters against Israel, we must make sure they are safe and do not go to war. Even if the U.S. stopped funding Israel, we would still be viewed as their allies and we would to targeted if Israel went to war.

Besides, it's not like Israel isn't helping us. They are trying to help us secure our airlines, we just won't listen.

A step-by-step guide of what TSA needs to do to INCREASE airline security WITHOUT the new body scanners and pat-downs..

They would more than likely win...without our help. I have no problem selling them weapons...as long as they pay market value.
