The current issues facing Dalit communities, especially the women and children is unconscionable. They are the prime communities targeted for human slavery.

You'd have to be living in a cave to not know about the violence against women taking place in Rwanda, Sudan, Burundi, and more recently the Congo/Angola border.

And don't forget honor killings, the favorite source of outrage here. Honor killings are the most vile of atrocities, and every endeavour should be made to prosecute fully when committed here, and pressure community and international leaders to outlaw this barbaric practice. Honor killings take the lives of 5,000 women every year. But what about the equally barbaric "Dowry Deaths"? 8,000 women killed every year over insufficient dowries. Where is the outrage?

And there are many more examples.

Why are people only outraged over the honor killings? Are the other lives not important? Should we not be equally outraged over all these atrocities?
Actually, there are a lot of Muslims in India and Pakistan is a Muslim country. But I think the stuff you are mentioning is very constrained to cultures that have a long history of this type of stuff and something that is limited to their own culture. The cast system has also been outlawed.

Islam on the other hand is extremely expansionist and mandates that their ways be forced upon the entire world. Human rights violations have been an unfortunate part of humanity and we do have a moral obligation to combat it. But, I think most are much more concerned with those who want to force such atrocities on us than those who keep it within their own culture which is located in the anus of the world.

Here is a link to the Dalit. As you can see, it is alive and well in Islam.
