I was thinking about that today. It is a grand idea. Planting and harvesting is a healing process. They used that method quite a lot with WWII survivors.

It would also be a great idea to make the detention kids clean out the weeds during lunch.

Grow up.........why would Palin agree with obama......she doesnt. Perhaps Obama should agree with Palin! It is a political position.....where does it say in the Constitution that the federal Government should dictate what we can and cant eat? Palin is exactly right and that is a positive message. Perhaps if liberals werent so busy and concerned about making life so easy for every one they might actually get out and get after it and lose weight. How about we make a federal law that says all kids must perform 500 pushups and sit ups a week and before they can pass the 8th grade they must be able to do 20 pullups. Hows about that?!

M. Obama is wasting her time. She should be addressing the food supply and monopoly, but she won't. It's just a band-aid. Sounds good, but it doesn't fix anything. You would also see a tremendous change and turn around toward the healthcare system if the food supply was dealt with honestly. It starts with our food and our food choices.
I say change our food supply and our food choices. Absolutely! (Not that it will happen in any forseeable future). We have too much garbage permitted in our foods. I dont think Michele Obama really has the power to actually address the monopoly on food sources. That runs pretty deep and would not be a likely rallying point for any first lady.

And as long as Americans are happy running to big box stores getting their meat and cheese super cheap, why would anyone even want to complain?

I agree with everything you posted here. M. Obama doesn't have the power, but she has the voice, which she won't use. And American people are lazy. But, what if we changed the underlying circumstances and gave opportunity to eat better, to feel better?

It would serve her well to be truthful, but what am I saying or hoping for? Her fake garden at the White House which hosted the Iron Chef America comes to mind. LOL!

And that would have been someone like me I would have preferred pulling weeds instead of writing 100 times I will not talk in class, every week of my elementary education I don't think I'd have as many callouses

Its not up to her to change the whole system of food production and consumption in the US.

When the president changes face, will you also require of the next 1st lady that they tackle this issue?

I think this is hardly an issue for 1st ladies. It is a national concern that runs way deeper than some 1st ladies proposal for healthier school kids. Its not exactly a secret that Americans have pretty bad health habits, for a so called "1st world nation." And this has been going on long before the Obamas stepped into the White House. I think it is a HUGE mistake to place our irritation about national health (or lack thereof) on anyone in D.C. The truth is, many Americans are unhealthy, plain and simple.

The rise in juvenile diabetes is correlated to an increase in poor diet. This is well documented and established fact.

Palin had a big chance here to step away from her relentless combative mode and actually agree with Mrs. Obama. She could have applauded the first lady for her message, and helped promote a healthy lifestyle. Instead she stuck to the only thing she knows and comes off as incredibly childish and petty.

Must everything be a partisan issue? Is this REALLY about big government? Who in their right mind (no pun intended of course) would believe such non sense? The comments at the bottom of the CNN article clearly show that nobody is buying it and this type of immature rhetoric is not welcome in regards to serious issues.

Worse yet is that her actions beg the question: What then is your solution to childhood obesity and the diseases that come along with it Mrs. Palin?

She stuck her foot in it when she addressed what she thinks the government needs to do for our children, so if she is going to stand on the podium - deliver!

In other words - Put up or shut up!

Everything they have stood for is geared toward Socialism. He is the game player they have chosen to carry the football past the goal line. So, no, I don't think Obama stands alone with a Socialist agenda. He is just a willing pawn in the game.

Americans are unhealthy because of the food choices on the market. Do some research. It is sickening, stupid, horrifying AND it it not necessary at all!
