I don't buy Halal anything due to the ritual prayer to Allah done during slaughter and the means of slaughter. Those are just my principals.

Advertise the meat is Halal and then people are free to choose.
So... You think somehow halal meat is EEEVIL? Or are you just a reactionary bigot? It isn't like you would know something was halal unless you were told (it'd probably defeat the purpose of selling halal food if you weren't going to label it as such, but hey!). What is it going to do, infect you and make you muslim? Turn you into a falafel?

Islam is pretty big on cleanliness... If anything, if somebody put a gun to my head and made me eat McDonalds, I'd PREFER it to be halal, because while most of it is nonsense, maybe the food won't be covered in filth like everything else they sell.

Also: you people... A headscarf is not a burqa. Go to any mall in a diverse area and see the endless muslim teenage girls in in hijab of all types and colors.

But isn't a coal black burqa (rather than just a headscarf) covering a female face but the eyes and a long black skirt to the ground true Muslim woman attire? I don't know, just asking.

That's how I saw them in the Middle east (Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Israel) when I traveled there. Maybe those muslim girls in the US you mentioned have assimilated into the US culture.

I know muslims here in the US who eat pork (bacon hamburgers at McDonalds), watch porn and don't give a damn about halal, shmalal, or prophet mohammed, so go figure. So I guess it works both ways.

What's the point of 'being muslim in America' then? How is that distinction special?

Obviously some places are more strict than others, but there are over a billion muslims in every country on earth (are there muslims in Liechtenstein? probably). Saudi Arabia isn't exactly lenient. Egypt is. Iran is fairly lenient too, but obviously some little mountain village and Tehran are not the same place. Mind you, men aren't allowed to wear shorts in most muslim countries, either.

While obviously I don't agree with that sort of thing, I always thought it was just silly (and a great example of xenophobia) that Americans get so worked up about it sometimes, when a topless woman is a sex crazed pervert criminal here. My pal from France says American tourists take pictures of topless sunbathers in the park of Paris.

No, I just don't happen to be a Muslim and I pray to my own God thank you.
But nice to see the "tolerance" about religion in your post.

I really don't think there are a billion Muslims in the US.

YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, SIR

There aren't a billion muslims in the Faroe Islands, iehter.

Halal meat being blessed somehow interrupts your method of praying to (the same) god? Do you refuse to eat kosher, as well? Who could possibly care about somebody saying words in a language they don't understand while their lunch is being killed?

I really don't see a problem with this. I live in a country which is about 10% muslim and the main chicken supplier for most retail businesses only provides halal meat....meaning the consumer doesn't really have a choice of not eating halal. Many restaurants will have signs on them saying "all meats halal" and they may be Chinese, subs, creole, Indian etc i.e. not catering to a "Muslim" market specifically which doesn't really exist since Muslims eat all these kinds of foods...just like any other religion.
Noone views it as a "takeover", just a way for business to satisfy all elements of the population.
