Is small normal? Or is it perhaps that the progressives have a defective "fear center" that isn't large enough? I figured it was common sense that liberalism is a brain disorder.

Fear is a survival mechanism. I was once fearless. I survived out of sheer luck.
A few shattered bones and surgeries later my philosophies shifted more to the side of caution.

As a conservative would be expected to figure. There is little room for diversity of thought amongst those who shriek there is a terrorist behind every bush while turning a blind eye to their own country's sins, which have killed more people than terrorists have killed Americans, by a factor of what?
A rational fear of the likes of Stalin, Hitler, tyranny and socialism is a healthy thing.
Its when you jumble them all together and brand anyone who disagrees with you as somehow similar to Stalin or Hitler that really does tend show an imbalance I'm afraid, and it aint healthy
As a general rule, because they have accumulated more things to protect. Most of the progressives I have met are under 30, don't have kids, or work in some field that is either unionized or completely removed from profit considerations. Oh, sure, there are some free spirits out there. But for the most part, most of the Progressives I have encountered don't have the foggiest clue how the real world works, and actually tend to be more insular. I am always disturbed by their utopian view of things, because history will tell you where all utopian visions ultimately lead.
I didn't see anything there about those of us who had been liberals most of our lives but changed sides. I guess something must have caused me to grow a bigger spot toward fear about the time I stopped being a Democrat. I was liberal till I was 42 and then the Dems nominated an outright socialist for President and I changed sides. That means I have been conservative only 36 years and the Democrats left me so maybe this whole story is wrong. Since that school is funded by liberal government I can see what may well have happened.
