Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts -- a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.
Miles of roads stretching from as north as Whitestone, Queens, to the south shore of Staten Island still remained treacherously unplowed last night because of the shameless job action, several sources and a city lawmaker said, which was over a raft of demotions, attrition and budget cuts.
ALBANY – Outgoing Gov. David Paterson called this morning for a criminal investigation into allegations that a slowdown by budget-squeezed plow operators contributed to the city’s blizzard woes.
The Post reported today that a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers confessed their protest plot to City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens). The workers were fuming over recent job cuts and cutbacks, the councilman and other sources told The Post.
Something went on and not only in NYC. Here in NJ we had the exact same problems. Entire neighborhoods and major highways weren't plowed for 4 DAYS! The Garden State Parkway was a law suit waiting to happen. They did such a crappy job that the lanes would just end on you, the left lane would become the middle lane and the right lane would all of a sudden become the middle lane. There were no warning signs that it was like this or anything. Cars would just merge right into the next lane if there was someone there or not. It was extremely dangerous. This was 3 DAYS after the storm. I heard on the local radio here that union members were called all over the state to tell them to either stage a call out, which many workers DID call out, or to slow down their work. There were plows driving around with their plows up and most of the time you never even saw one. I know there was a ton of snow for them to move around, but this is the worst I've ever seen them operate on this large of a scale. Nobody I talked to about it can figure it out.
There was already a thread opened on this FOX lie.
Yeah it's a FOX lie, meanwhile it is being reported in not just NYC but on many local radio stations and news stations in NJ too about this same thing happening here.

This is all do to lack of funds I believe, as both states are running out of money fast. It's only going to get worse in the future.

Haven't there been lots of mass layoffs there ?
Pretty underhanded though if they are doing this in retaliation to the layoffs.
I did read that NYC layed off 400 sanitation workers and planned to lay off more.
