People that always defend the oil companies and Big Business should have NO problem pay $4 plus a gallon for gas after all it is just business as usual. Enjoy.

When you buy a gallon of gas refiners like Exxon are way down the list on those profiting. The largest chunk goes for the raw product. Second on the list is TAXES...
The reason gas is so high is because of speculators. This is why most commodities are never stable and fluctuate in price. Commodity pricing nowadays have VERY little to do with supply and demand and everything to do with speculation.
Let's keep things honest here, that quote was in the context of Cap and Trade policy. If I remember correctly it was given a full year before the election. While there are certainly some policies like those implemented in the Gulf having some effect overall blaming the current cost on Obama is no better than those blaming Bush when he was in office or "Big Oil" .
Gasoline is energy. Obama said energy costs would go up under his plan. He has been in office for 2 years. Energy costs are up. His plan is successful.
Nothing dishonest about it.
Printing of all this money is causing prices to go up. That is clearly a policy of Obama.

Quickest way to fix it would be to increase domestic oil production.
Or do the unspeakable and reduce consumption. With the US oil consumption per capita being twice that of Germany's, perhaps there's room to tweak that parameter as well?

How big is Germany again? Little smaller than the US in terms of geograhic area, wouldn't you say? Do you think that has anything at all to do with it?
Ok, oil consumption per capita is rougly twice that of western europe. Is that a better comparison?
Not really. There is an entirely different geograhical context that cannot be ignored. Canada would probably be a better comparison geographically but darn it, they have higher per capita consumption than the US so that won't prove your point.
Btw, US oil production peaked in 1970, world oil production peaked in 2005/2006. Oil production is only going to decline from here on.
