cremebrulee, I too cannot for the life of me understand how people ignore this. We rarely hear about these cases in the news, but child molestation is ever-increasing. You asked in your OP about what we thought could be done about this. As you said, child molesters very, very, very rarely come out of this. To me, a life in prison is a minimum sentence. The problem I have is what Jaxson brought up. A fifteen year old girl who consented to sex with a nineteen year old is very different from a grown man raping a child. I'm not saying I believe either is acceptable, but I do believe each situation deserves a different treatment. In addition to harsher punishment for child molesters, I think that what will help reduce this is reversing the causes. A broken home, children without involved parents, a countrywide infatuation with sex, pornography, and a movement to sexualize young children all contribute among many other things. To effectively combat this issue, it would require an all-out culture shift, and one I'm not too sure this nation would stand for. Not even for children.

One in three girls are sexually abused by eighteen and one in five boys. Somethings has to be done.

She was found wrapped in garbage bags, holding a stufftoy dolphin, her hands bound with stereo wires. Jessica died from asphyxiation after being sexually assaulted according to medical result. "

Just the latest in the string of thousands of abductions. A 9 year old girl kidnapped, raped and buried ALIVE. This monster along with all the rest of them deserve the DEATH PENALTY! And if I could have it my way it would be a very very SLOW and PAINFUL death!!

This is HEARTBREAKING. I can't imagine what she suffered or what her parents suffer now.

Thank you for your comment...I understand within society, this is not a popular subject....though, with all the other sexual subjects on this forum, I don't understand how we human beings can sit around and complain about smokers, or ask questions about kissing during, and not touch a subject with such an extreme cause....it hurts me inside actually, that I was sexually abused, and yet, no one wants to discuss this or hound our law makers to do something to protect our children.

I do know that Opra and Bill O'reilly have been trying despratly to bring more attention to it....but when you see statistics like one in three girls and one in five boys...I have to ask myself, what in the world is going on here and Why?

It really makes me loose faith in our society...and to be honest, I'm actually shocked b/c I never expected this many responses...so thank you, thank you with all my heart and soul to all of you who have commented on this thread...you are very kind and brave to do so.

sheesh, one in three girls...one if five boys...good God?

Default The latest in the sick and twisted world

Clip from Detroit News, Michigan Breaking News and Detroit Weather Online - WDIV ClickOnDetroit.com

DETROIT -- A retired truck driver from Florida has pleaded guilty in federal court in Detroit to charges of traveling to Asian countries to engage in sex with children.

Karl Kaechele, 64, of St. Petersburg was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in 2005 on his return from a 90-day trip that took him to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Immigration agents say Kaechele's luggage contained photographs of nude girls and notebooks where Kaechele had detailed sexual encounters with girls as young as 8.

Kaechele faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 15.

he is why, our children here in America are being abducted and taken to 3rd world countries for prostitution....big big business and we can't touch them over there, can we? I mean, we can't press charges unless they are caught here? Another reason to crack down on illegal immigration....big reason....

Sounds like an urban legend. Got any actual citations to real cases where this happened?

Kids get trafficked in the third-world all the time. But your claim is that kids are being kidnapped in the US - a first-world nation - and transported TO third-world nations for purposes of prostitution.

You haven't cited any demonstrated examples of this. Your first link is about intra-family abductions, which isn't quite the same thing.
