He actually has a point. When we look at most of the sensational shootings that have occurred in the US over the last five years, most have been committed by liberals. Further, if we look at the criminals in the US, most are democrats.

You see, it's statements like most criminals in US the democrats which destroy the credibility of so many of those on the far right.
Plus my mom worked in prisons helping convicts. Pretty much all strong Democrats.

1st of all there is not really debating what IS a Liberal because there are many political tests that can determine where you are in the spectrum. remember democrats and republicans are political parties and adhere to no real idealology accept for what gets them elected..

Not all liberals want to restrict gunownership rights but everyone I've ever heard wanting to restrict gunownership rights is a liberal. That's not a fallacy. That's an observational fact. The only liberal I knew that was not trying to restrict gun ownership rights was one that had needed to use a gun in self-defense. It's amazing how that can change yoru point of view on the issue.
I'm a conservative (duh) and I don't own a gun but if the day came where I ever felt I needed one I'd hope I'd be able to get one at the nearest drive-through.

First off you would have to explain why thre are some many labeled as Liberals on this board that own guns. Then you would have to explain why at least 90% of the Liberals I know own guns, is it because I live in Texas? Then you would have to explain why there are also Conservatives that are pro strong gun regulation if not outright outlawing of guns.
Now I will agree that there are more Dems in Congress than Repubs that would like to restrict gun ownership and it is natural due to the Party make up. While the Republican Party gets so much money from the NRA an I would venture a guess from many gun owners within their Party and that if a Repub in Congress were to present a gun control bill they would be gone quickly due to Party politics. I doubt the divide is as simple as people want to make the issue of gun control. Thankfully, in my opinion, neither Party will ever outlaw guns, there are far too many voters that would be more than a little upset with the idea and it would be political sucide.
