Really? Why have all the EU governments moved away from Obama's 'stim-pork-ulous' policies and enacted austerity measures then? Don't they have competent economists in Europe to tell them that the Obama way is the only way?

Actually, every developed nation enacted stimulus and bailout measures of some sort.

And when they saw that dismal results that produced, they promptly switched to austerity measures, much to Obama's chagrin.

I think you are smart enough to realize that a poll that says the government should consider Tea Party ideas does not mean those people wholeheartedly support the Tea Party. I would have said yes to the poll as well because the debt obviously needs to be reigned in over the medium-term but I generally think the Tea Party is asinine. They support tax cuts but are concerned about the deficit... they want real spending cuts but don't want to touch defense, Medicare, SS, Medicaid... they have some good broad concepts but have very little to offer by way of actual ideas.

I'm not sure of all that. I believe most want defense on the table, like me. Most KNOW entitlements need to be dealt with as well.

Why do you think he was so resoundingly rebuked by all of them on his last trip to Europe?

They're all substantially smarter than he is.

No, sanrene, I did not misread at all. The poll was worded "it is important that REPUBLICAN leaders in Congress take the Tea Party movement's positions and objectives into account"

And once again my response is of course it is important that Republican leaders in Congress take the Tea Party's positions into account.

And once again my comment is what's the big deal?

Asked of adults, across the political spectrum.

Quote:
PRINCETON, NJ -- About 7 in 10 national adults, including 88% of Republicans, say it is important that Republican leaders in Congress take the Tea Party movement's positions and objectives into account as they address the nation's problems. Among Republicans, 53% rate this "very important."
Doesn't say 7 in 10 republicans.

So yes, 70% of adults think the GOP should heed the TP positions.
