“Under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live separate lives, apart from each other and the mainstream,” Cameron said during a panel discussion attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “We have failed to provide a vision of society to which they feel they want to belong.” British PM: Multiculturalism has failed - World news - Europe - msnbc.com
We should listen.
I believe he's right. We have made the same mistake. We have become a society of feel gooders who, on the surface, wants to make everybody happy. In reality, we have lost what we held most dear; unity as a whole, brought together under the words: "One nation, under God".
People used to come here wanting to be American. For a while now, people come here wanting to be Mexican, Chinese, or whatever, in America. That's not what diversity is. It's acknowedging and celebrating differences, but as a whole, we should still be one and we're not.
People don't want to be American anymore. They just want to live here.
What do you all think?

jakija9311 !!! ... BRAVO ! Three thumbs Up For You !
Indeed ... you are precisely right !
How tragic it truly is for any nation to deliberately allow it's culture, national pride, and honor to be trampled into the dust by those who come in from other lands and just don't give tinkers damn about being a loyal citizen !!!
The great honor of becoming an American citizen is something that must be earned !!! ... Not something that is simply handed to anyone who happens to illegally sneak across our borders !
The good folks in the British Isles has found out about the foolishness of multi-culturalism far to late ... That doesn't mean that the American citizens are doomed also to such a disaster !
The gross ignorance of so many of America's Career politicians is directly responsible for the freaking illegal alien madness in the States !
Very true. Multiculturalism at it's core is rotten. Hardly anyone moves to America, or even Germany, France, etc. with the intent of becoming Americans, Germans, and French. They want to come to these nations and transform them instead and it's causing the West to die.

That's BS spread by politicians, and anyone who believes it is a sucker. Just a few miles north of where I live there's a town that spoke pretty much nothing but German until the 1920's. People still go there for "authentic" German food, clocks, and their Oktoberfest parties. You can still find one or two great-great grandparents who don't speak a lick of English.
I know that my own 1st-generation immigrant ancestor spoke Slovak, German, and Russian, but never learned to speak English, shopped only at stores owned by Slovakians and talked only with other people from the home country and tried to make her home and life as Slovakian as she could. But her kids learned English, became patriots, many fought some died and all struggled for this country. The exact same thing that happens with immigrants today.
The idea that ALL the immigrants to the US used to learn English the second they hit our shores in the past is totally bogus. As is the idea that our country is coming apart at the seams because we allow in less than 1% of our population in immigrants. These are simply political tools being used by the wingnuts, playing on people's fears for their own benefit. It's detrimental to the country and un-American
There's no English test for immigrants, no assimilation mandate, and no proclamation against multiculturalism that the government or society recently eliminated to spark some sudden lack of assimilation. 1st generation immigrants aren't as Americanized as their children who aren't Americanized as their children. This has been going on since the beginning of our country.

What hasn't been going on since the beginning of our country is our fellow English speaking inhabitants initiating Slovak, German, or Russian immersion programs in our schools in order to make the immigrant groups feel more comfortable as they land on our shores.
We have a situation now where some Americans don't even want to be Americans anymore.
That's detrimental to the country and un-American!

Difference is, they all became Americans. Real Americans. Not so many do that anymore.
One is not an American if he or she came here to take advantage of the system.
My family's origins are in Norway. When they came here, they settled in Minnasota, the Dakotas and Wisconsin where most Scandanavians settled, but THEY CAME HERE TO BECOME AMERICANS.
People don't do that so much anymore. You're blind if you can't see that.

Real Americans are the Indians, if your folks are not speaking their language and live like them, then whats real about your folks?
I smell Karma, as the saying goes, cant have your cake without eating the cherry.
The Native Indians must have whined about the same thing, only your in the spotlight now, lmao. The Irony.

Oh bull****! Every square inch of this earth has been fought and bled over, won and lost. You make the Indians out to be some monolithic group when in reality they were diverse and fought each other quite often. We came, we fought them, and we won. Get over it. I shed not one tear over that.
Multiculturism, here failed a long long time ago with the anialation of the Native American Indians, nothing new here.
The American Indians in my neck of the woods own huge casinos, drive expensive cars, and are purchasing huge tracts of land in SE Connecticut.
