If you want to know where the US is heading, like Obamacare, socialist France also penalizes you for not buying something and just like the US now, half of the sheep think it's okay for the government to make all of them buy something to modify behavior.

"All vehicles travelling on French roads must carry a chemical or electronic breathalyzer test beginning Sunday, under new rules aimed at reducing alcohol-driven accidents. Those who fail to do so risk a fine of 11 euros ($14) from November 1, 2012, when the penalty comes into force.

Breathalyzer tests compulsory on all vehicles in France - Yahoo! News Canada

"Foreign drivers are not exempted, so travel sites and agencies are warning foreign visitors about it and urging them to carry two breathalyzer kits. French police say they will make random checks on drivers crossing into France on ferries and through the English Channel tunnel."

Breathalyzer Law Takes Effect in France -- Occupational Health & Safety

"Each balloon kit costs between 1 and 3 euros, whereas an electronic tester can run up to 100 euros, but can be reused."

AGI.it - France: breathalyzer kit mandatory for all cars

And here you go...

"Imagine being legally required to carry a breathalyzer in your car or face a fine. It's a law that's about to become a reality in France Sunday. France will be the first country to ever have this kind of requirement. South Carolina is far from having a law that would require breathalyzers. But with more than 2,000 deaths in the last five years in the state alone, some authorities there say it could be a good idea. They said that a quick breathalyzer test can be eye-opening."

Oh, please. Do you know NOTHING beyond RWNJ spin?

1. Truck drivers are required to purchase, and carry, tire chains in some states during the winter, whether they need them or not.

2. All motorist's are required to purchase insurance. You will be fined if you don't have it.

3. Every business is required to purchase a license before they can open.

4. Most homeowners are required to purchase a building permit before doing home improvements.

5. In most states, fire inspections are mandatory for businesses and they may be required to purchase updated protection equipment if needed.

6. Many locations, such as the town I live near (Denison, Texas) have home appearance standards under which the city may require you to purchase and install such things as blinds or drapes (that actually happened to my son). You can be fined if you don't.

The list goes on and on.

Where on earth do you get the idea that government can't require you to purchase something? Or, that it's something Barack Obama dreamed up all on his own? Hell, every time you buy a car you're required to purchase airbags, whether you want them or not!

The French should have quit after they invented the French horn. That was a stroke of genius, but it was all downhill from there. As my college history teacher noted, only the French would have a word whose meaning alternately is "optomistic" and "bloody" ('sanguine).

#3 I am my own business. They call me self employed, even though I am fully employed. I do not have to purchase a license to do business.

#4 here in Austin(very liberal) I do not have to get a permit or get a licensed trade to do anything to my home, unless I am changing the footprint or floor plan of the structure. As long as I am doing all the work myself as the general contractor.

#6 There are codes here, but noting like that. That is where HOA's get into your business.

If history is always written by the victor, is there any such thing as French History?

Yes, BIG GOVERNMENT is alive and well in France too. We have politicians who know that a huge number of voters are idiots and will vote for any politician who promises to give them more and increase the reach of the Nanny State.

Maybe the French police dept can't afford to buy the breathalyzer tests anymore.
Ever think of that ? Maybe it's a budget problem on their part.
