They are in competition with other publishers. That's called free market competition.

Most utilities give discounts to large consumers (hospitals, office parks, schools) and low-income families.

They're politicians. What did you expect? Mother Theresa?

But god help the teacher who puts themselves and their family ahead of students!
They went to school and training so they could EDUCATE. The kids should be their first priority and not be used as pawns in this sadistic game.

Maybe the teachers and their union didn't get the memo, but states are sacrificing and trying to cut wherever they can before they get downgraded to junk status. Good luck trying to borrow money with B paper.

What makes these people think they are entitled to everything?

Actually, that's not true. I can't think of a case in the last 50 years when Republican legislators ran away. This is twice in recent Democrat history. It is becoming a trend for Dem legislators to give the electorate the big middle finger.

Yeesh, lets make excuses for the inappropriate and neglegent WI protesting teachers who shut down the schools because they do not want to pay some of their own insurance!

They are not "ENTITLED", it is something bargained for and they are bargaining with the people of the state, not a big business!

Unions in government should not exist in the first place, it is antipublic. Who do the teachers work for if not the public who pay their wages...

Give me a break!

Break that down by region, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people with a negative view are in the south east. Just something I've noticed, up north and the "rust belt", unions are viewed much more positively.

In the south the union hasn't enjoyed a long history or a real foot print.

Not saying who's right or wrong, just stating for effect.

Even with a breakdown the majority is still the majority..right ?
More people are living in the south than ever before.

They don't think anything. Its a classic power struggle and each party tries to convince people - by using the "moral" argument. There is no moral aspect in a country that made individualism and commercialism into a religion.

And that's why they call it the "rust belt." The unions pillaged what they could before the business either closed or moved to a location where it had a chance to attempt to earn a profit without having its back broken by organized labor.

Its still the majority, but an uneducated majority.

Not saying that we are stupid in the south, we just haven't had experience with the unions.

Unions aren't always bad, just saying. I don't like them in public jobs whatsoever though.
