Why should government employees expect wage increases ABOVE the c.p.i. unless approved by voters? (That is how the bill reads to me. It would allow increases greater than the c.p.i.)

What is IT about public service that public servants do not understand?

Would you prefer that he lay off the 5,500 workers it would take to balance the budget?

Sounds like this governor has more compassion than many others would have.

I suggest to you Union Dems who work for the state of Wisconsin: if you don't like wage increases equal to the c.p.i., then you should go to work for private industry. Of course, you scream, we don't want lower wages and fewer benefits. Right. Welcome to the world of accountability. Government workers earn higher wages and have greater benefits than those in private industry.

Never thought you would ever be caught in the same room with Reality, eh?

OK. can we cut the non sense once and for all we spend among the most in the world to get poor results. The discussion shouldn't be spending more money to get good results. It should be how to dismantle the failed union approach to education.

Education in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"According to a 2005 report from the OECD, the United States is tied for first place with Switzerland when it comes to annual spending per student on its public schools, with each of those two countries spending more than $11,000 (in U.S. currency).[78] However, the United States is ranked 37th in the world in education spending as a percentage of gross domestic product. All but seven of the leading countries are in the third world; ranked high because of a low GDP.[79] U.S. public schools lag behind the schools of other developed countries in the areas of reading, math, and science.[80]"

It's a tough pill to swallow but I don't think the union bosses will cave in.
They (union bosses) will lose their power if they did.

Any questions?
Yup,

Why doesn't the tea party go after corporate welfare?
Why doesn't the tea party acknowledge the special interests who paid for their TV ads?
Why doesn't the Tea Party stop getting govt. benefits to help balance the budget?

You may be right. But that is because public schools have to feed children, they have to make sure they have cloths and they have to have teachers bring their own school supplies - meanwhile corporate tax breaks abound both in WI and in DC where the GOP House is looking at more oil and coal tax breaks.

Socialism for the rich, capitalism for workers - that is the new GOP motto.

Well, since we are spending the most per capita in the world your excuses don't hold water. The problem is there is no competition, and awful teachers are protected by the union. If kids were allowed top take the money that is spent to educate them to any school, you would see quality improve real fast.
