This sounds almost threatening:
Quote:
Matt Miller, leader of the Senate Democrats, issues a statement:

In thirty minutes, 18 State Senators undid fifty years of civil rights in Wisconsin. Their disrespect for the people of Wisconsin and their rights is an outrage that will never be forgotten. Tonight, 18 Senate Republicans conspired to take government away from the people. Tomorrow we will join the people of Wisconsin in taking back their government.

Anyway, nobody undid anything. Seems it is easy to forget we have labor laws now, OSHA, a whole mess of regulations that will not be overturned just b/c public unions have had some of their bargaining power taken away. Crybabies.

It's more than just the state, it keeps local governments from being bankrupted by the unions, too. HUGE victory for WI taxpayers!

It is here along with this:

If the Republicans move forward with their plans, it would be a major reversal for Gov. Scott Walker and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau. Both have contended that the bill is fiscal in nature and thus the collective bargaining could not be stripped from the measure.
Collective bargaining bill appears to be on its way to passage

I disagree. Just b/c it impacts things other than the budget does not mean it has nothing to do with the budget. Whatever tactics they have to take to move on with the legislative process, I support. The entire thing could have been avoided if the Dems had not left. They should have stood their ground out on the floor and debated and tried to amend. THAT is democracy in action.

From jo's link:

Quote:
Walker said Wednesday that, "The Senate Democrats have had three weeks to debate this bill and were offered repeated opportunities to come home, which they refused. In order to move the state forward, I applaud the Legislature's action today to stand up to the status quo and take a step in the right direction to balance the budget and reform government. The action today will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs.

This subset had nothing to do with the Budget. That is why it was removed and passed separately. That portion never did have any budget implications, it is solely to kill the Unions.

From jo's link:
Yeah, like the Republicans were actually going let them "amend" anything. The Republicans would have rammed this union killing garbage through in six days. By leaving the state, the Democrats showed the people what was actually in this "budget repair bill."

Including saying it has nothing to do with the budget?

That's right, everything that has happened since the Demsran away is tactical for each side to get it's way. The Dems claim NOT voting is democracy, laughable on it's face. The Republicans strip out collective bargaining and claim it isn't fiscal in nature is also laughable, but at least within the rules of the Senate.

Either Walker lied when he said removing collective bargaining is necessary for the budget or he is acting dishonestly now by removing it from the budget bill!

WI, your governor is a dishonest man!

He has shown his true colors and more is to come!
