• More than a dozen WGBH honchos at PBS’ taxpayer-subsidized flagship station are raking in upwards of $200,000 a year

• Four vice presidents and producers pulled in more than $300,000 — and another 10 took home more than $200,000 — in pay and benefits;
• 145 of WGBH’s then-950 employees — about 15 percent — earned more than $100,000.

• Ex-WGBH president Henry Becton Jr. — now the station’s vice-chairman — made $160,873 in total compensation for working just 24 hours a week.

• Top brass pocketed more than $200,000 in bonuses.

And those salaries compare with those in private sector broadcasting how?

Or would that be asking for too much of the story?

I'm just glad we can provide PBS with a $85 million multimedia palace dubbed the “Taj Mahal” that boasts a 200-seat amphitheater, state-of-the-art recording studio and Hamburg-Steinway grand piano. What would they do without a grand piano?

Your joy matches mine that we can provide Iraq with a $75 million police academy that's unuseable due to shoddy construction. What could we do with $75 million for Americans?

And BTW, you started the thread whining about salaries. They're meaningless unless compared to similar potions in the private sector.

So, we are still talking about out of control government spending, glad we are on the same page.

hey, as long as we have them discussing reductions in federal spending, then it means we are making progress.

Sorry if you're too tunnel visioned to understand waste is waste no matter where it occurs. And without comparison to the private sector we don't know if those salaries are too high, we know an unuseable building is waste.
