Honestly, what the hell do these people think a president does? Here's a clue: it isn't micromanage each and every operation of each and every organ in the apparatus of the state. In this case, the US military near Japan is providing what aid they can and the Japanese sure don't need Team America™ to save them from something they deal with yearly and we don't.
you expect the average biased poster on here to comprehend that? good luck.

Nothing much going on...so party on Hussein!
It sure was inconvenient that Japan planned their disaster for a weekend; millions of Americans were enjoying all the countless basketball games.

It sure was inconvenient that Japan planned their disaster for a weekend; millions of Americans were enjoying all the countless basketball games. But we can be assured that many Americans said their thoughts and prayers are with the Japanese, because that does a whole lot of good.

Think about Chris Christie in Disneyworld when NJ had yet another snowstorm. He trusted the snow emergency people knew how to do their jobs. I totally agreed that he did not have to hold their hands or wave the green flag for them to know they should start doing their snow emergency jobs as it's not like NJ has never seen snow before.

Well, President Obama sent the military to Japan to help out. Not too long ago they had to do it in Haiti. I totally think that he does not have to sit by the phone and hand hold our soldiers in providing aid/assistance to Japan. In fact, he would be an impediment if he did. So, his reaction to the disaster was good. However, his advisors probably should have told him what does and doesn't LOOK good in photos and on TV when another country is losing thousands of people and so much property is decimated by a natural disaster. It makes him LOOK stupid/uncaring/aloof. He's got too many academics advising him. It happens too many times.
I don't even think Obama playing golf was a bad PR move. I didn't even know he was out golfing until I read it here on CD, must not have been considered that important to most of the media. I mean really, did we care what the PM of Japan was doing every minute of the day during the Katrina crisis? If he had been photographed golfing, I do not think there would have been an outrage in this country.

Wow, the hate mongers are really foaming at the mouth today. Is it a full moon? Did Glenn Beck put on another clown suit and have another *sht* fit? Anything to demonize the rich, powerful black man, eh right wing loons? My god if he squandered 3 TRILLION tax payer dollars invading a country under false pretenses and undermined our constitution by repealing habeus corpus and increased the gov't power to spy on private citizens with the "Patriot Act" the right wing loons would be donning their white sheets and pointy hats, getting their pitchforks and torches and forming lynch mobs.

So exactly what exercise would have been acceptable? Would a short run have been better? Perhaps it would be useful if posters who are so outraged by this could draw up a list, a guideline if you will, outlining behavior they deem acceptable during occurences half way around the world in foreign countries. For example if there is a train crash in Russia then Obama is allowed to eat, but cannot eat at an official function, and so on.

Exactly! We already know that golfing is not OK, but mountain biking or cutting brush is OK, as per the example of his predecessor, who quit golf but not his other hobbies.
