Both you AND Hillary Clinton were flatass WRONG about what a 'Present' vote in the Illinois Senate means. You might be able to be forgiven for not bothering to take the time to look it up. Hillary, on the other hand, had no freaking excuse except that she's a liar, which is why I didn't support her for President over Barack Obama.
"SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON should probably be forgiven [though not by me] for not remembering the course on the state Constitution that she would have had to take as an eighth grader in Illinois. But had she remembered it, she would have known that Senator Barack Obama was not ducking his responsibility in the Illinois Senate when he voted “present” on many issues.
<snip>
". . .[A] “present” vote [is] the same as a no [vote]. If a bill receives 29 votes, but the rest of the senators vote “present,” it fails. In the Illinois Senate, there can be strategic reasons for voting “present” rather than simply no. A member might approve the intent of legislation, but not its scope or the way it has been drafted. A “present” vote can send a signal to a bill’s sponsors that the legislator might support an amended version. Voting “present” can also be a way to exercise fiscal restraint, without opposing the subject of the bill."
You will no longer have any excuse to accuse the President of avoiding tough issues.
I would'nt be so cocksure of myself there lassie.
"The “present” vote in Illinois is sometimes cast by state lawmakers with a conflict of interest who would rather not weigh in on an issue. Other times, members use the option to object to certain parts of a bill, even though they may agree with its overall purpose."
It can be strategic, but it can also be ambivalent. His actions speak volumes in how it is more applicable.
I cannot defend Obama, but I'm not going to crucify him. He is not connecting with the population. It could be that there are no good solutions out there to the million problems we face. It could be that his staff is, like us, deeply divided over what course of action to take. That in itself is a good thing because it's better than under Bush2 where the administration had answers for everything and they were always the worst answers! If the people hadn't rushed to Bush2's side after 9/11, there would have been nothing positive worth noting in his eight years. Obama has nothing positive in his term to date but if he does something right by the next election, he will regain support.
Obviously no President is going to satisfy everyone. But until Obama does something I think is terribly wrong and it impacts me personally, I will withhold harsh criticism. We can do better, but the man or woman who would better run this country has chosen to never sell his/her soul to the banksters and elitists and thus will never be elected. So the blame needs to be applied NOT to the officeholder, it needs to go to the corrupt power that installs the person they can control.

Yeah, what makes you so cocksure yourself, laddie? You have a crystal ball that tells you why Obama registered 'Present' votes instead of just outright 'No' votes?
Didn't think so.
The FACT is, there's a REASON Illinois legislators have the 'Present' option, and it's NOT so the people who are ambivalent can get away with shirking their responsibilities. If any of them used it that way, it would be obvious and known and those jokers wouldn't have a career in the Illinois Legislature for very long. You'll notice that NOT ONE SINGLE ILLINOIS LEGISLATOR SPOKE OUT AGAINST OBAMA USING THAT TOOL. Only the schmoe running against him to try to score points with people who don't know any better. Any Illinois legislator who dared open their mouths about it would be SKEWERED for hypocrisy, because they ALL use it. And they know it's used for very good reason, and NOT because they're derelict in their duties.

Nope, no crystal ball; just his track record of lacking leadership skills.
Many of us are disappointed in Obama. However, the alternatives are frightening. Bachmann, Palin, Gingrich, Huckabee...therefore, Obama is a likely bet for re-election.

Like MSNBC comparing him to Waldo.
Oh yeah, his track record shows such a lack of leadership. It takes a special kind of blindness to continue to make such an absurd claim in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, right here in this very thread, no less. . .

The list for what the Republican Congress and George W. Bush accomplished in EIGHT years doesn't even stack up to that.
The assumption you make is that these were good things.
The other issue is one where the vast majority of what you list was accomplished when he didn't have to have bipartisanship.
Anyone can push through their agenda with that set up.
I wouldn't expect someone who bows at the alter of obama to understand that though.
He is certainly setting a record at getting us into debt through HIS policies. Makes Bush look like a spendthrift.
