I consider myself a conservative with a trend to the right of center within the conservative range. Am I a birther? Nope. Do I care about Michele Obama's big ass? Nope. Do I care about the President's middle name? Nope. Do I care that his leadership and principles are nowhere near what I, as a conservative, would like to see for this country? ABSOLUTELY. And I will continue to profess that as often as I deem necessary.

My advice to the OP would be to find another forum if "moderate" opinions are what you want. Surely there's a RINO/DINO community that would take you
in with welcoming arms.
I think there is something called the Frum forum, hosted by RINO David Frum.

I am a conservative who has no interest whatsoever in the "moderate" Republican position. I actually have more respect for the far left view (even if I disagree) than the establishment Republican who says the GOP needs to move towards the middle.

I'm new here but from what I've noticed it's the same 10-15 guys spouting ad hominem in every thread with thousands of posts under their belt posting on average 20-50 posts a day. They probably don't have jobs or bored retired old guys that have taken on trolling as a hobby instead of fishing and gardening. The homosexual and "multi-cultural" threads are something you'd see at stormfront.org or freerepublic.com. I've seen people here stating that NPR is the Left's Stormfront... lol

A couple of months ago, there was a thread titled "Does CD have a conservative bias", to which I disagreed with. At the time, I thought that this forum had a pretty even mix and there were views from all sides of the discussion. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case as this forum has become over-run by Republican trolls who b***h and whine about just about everything that the man does. In their eyes, he can do no right.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the quality of the threads have sunken to new lows. I believe the term I am looking for to describe this change is bastardization... Instead of arguing policy, the overwhelming majority of "these posters" find it worthwhile to try to prove to the rest of us that he was born in Kenya. They also seem to emphasize writing out his middle name as if it is supposed to carry some sort of negative association. My theory is that these people are either paid by right-wing websites to troll this forum, or that they are prime examples of what brainwashing can do to the human mind. They have nothing of substance to add to the discussions held in here, and are beyond annoying.

Now before you accuse me of just not wanting to listen to opinions from the other side, I will note that there are several conservative posters on here who I have learnt alot from by reading their posts. However, they are an anomaly, and they too are attacked by these trolls for speaking the truth. For a group that love to complain about whining, this group sure are having a hard time living by their own standards.

If there are any moderate conservatives out there, please let your voices of reasons be heard amongst the sea of ignorance we have to deal with everyday. Thanks in advance

Again, surely I am not the only one who has noticed this trend?
You are not alone in noticing this. Leading up the '08 election, Conservatives here stated their case but they were crushed under the weight of their leader George Bush's historically lousy presidency and it's detrimental effect on this country. When Obama won by a landslide, Conservatives revealed themselves to be the ultimate sore losers. Apparently their strategy is to attack this president, raising trite, meaningless, petty complaints that both reveal the worthliness of the GOP and their role as a part of the problem.

I ignore them for the most part and many of them are put on IGNORE once they reveal themselves. They don't matter.

People who start troll threads and then never return to debate don't matter much either. Have you ever seen any of those on here?

I'm not sure how people define a "Moderate," considering
how many people here think that Obama is a "Centrist."

Precisely, it doesn't matter what you call your self. You can either see who the liars are or not.

I have wondered about this as well, and the lack of moderate liberals. It is difficult to have a reasoned debate before someone hits the "hate/racist/homophobe, etc" button, and corresponding agressiveness from the other side of the argument. City Data Forum is heavily weighted toward liberal views, but the conservative views expressed are sometimes harsh in tone (I am guilty of that, I know). It seems that too many that post here are intolerant of others opinions/beliefs and are quick to call someone delusional, moronic, hateful, etc.

exactly. obama/bush sucks and here's why
1. policy a
2. policy b
3. policy c

but at times we get
1. he's a nazi
2. he wants to ruin America
3. hes a muslim

no different than the attempts to paint the Tea Party as racist. Just another way to deflect. Too many get their info from soundbites.

California's proposition 8 (which would allow only one man and one woman to be legally married) won by about the same percent as Obama did, but the media did not refer to prop 8 as a "landslide."

If that's what you want, best to get your own forum and write your own rules.

People notice what they want to notice. THIS thread is one. You single out one group. That makes me wonder since I read the same forum as you do and both sides are guilty.
I would be surprised if you commented in a thread bashing the Tea Party as racist or violent. If you have point it out to me. My opinion of you will change for the better if you have. But if you haven't, you're just blowing smoke.
