If only the predictable 90% comes out to vote for him, that might not be enough.
Even if 100% of the blacks vote for him in 2012, if Obozo loses a significant number of the white vote such as the moderates (and he probably will) he won't be re-elected, providing the GOP puts up a decent challenge.

there is sound political reasoning for doing this.
obama pushes his re-election message to national action network who will be on the ground for him getting out the vote in 2012.
obama will need that ground game to win in 12. national action network will go to the hood, will go to harlem and get those people to the voting booth.
The blacks will not go to the polls in '12. The only reason they went last time was because they thought obama was going to take care of them for life. Now they know the truth. They still like him and want him to win, but not enough to get off the sofa and vote....

Blacks have voted overwhelmingly Democratic for President since FDR, the have been near or above a 90% clip for Democrats since LBJ. You could make the argument that Obama being black helped increase turnout among blacks, but turnout increased across the board in 2008.
Aside from that, of course yet again on CD we have another thread title that is a bald faced lie. Obama did not hire Sharpton to help with 2012, the article says nothing of the sort. What the article does state is Obama will be speaking at the National Action Network, which was founded by Sharpton.
Speaking at an event does not mean that you are hiring the host of that event. Anyone with even very basic education levels should be able to comprehend the difference and that they aren't the same thing, but then again this is CD so we should all be use to thread titles that are total and complete lies.
