Strange how that works...
I've heard that some people can sense the end being near.
It makes you wonder HOW he knew. Was the FBI threatening him more than before? I'm sure that he probably had routine death threats, but was there a really significant one that really made MLK believe that he would be killed soon? It's well documented that the FBI hated him. it doesn't seem too hard to believe that it didn't kill MLK under the direction of Hoover.
The anniversary of Dr. King's death reminds us that we still haven't reached that mountaintop, and that there is still work to be done to achieve his dream of a day where children everywhere will be judged by the content of their character.
So many in this country revel and celebrate his death, the violence in it, the date of it, the 'license' value of his speeches, that a white man did the deed, etc.
And so few celebrate, listen to and practice the healing of his words.
It's also sad that we had a thread with a very good OP commemorating the anniversary of Dr. King's death, and only five people even bothered to post in it. Have we forgotten the dream? Sometimes I fear we have.

Most of us have not forgotten the dream, but sadly enough, there are far left factions that are trying to reinvent his dream into their own dream. The new fabrication last week was that the unions were saying that Dr. King died trying to bring equality to the middle class workforce! No mention of "judged by the content of your character and not the color of your skin". It's a shame really.
Sometimes I think the further from that time we get, the more pathetic we become to everything that was done for us. Did King and the others do all that so that we can do this??

King coulda stayed at home if he knew we'd turn out accepting stuff like this.....

Actually your comment shows how little you knew of Dr. King. Civil rights became too small for him because he knew that true civil rights would only come when all men irregardless of color were valued and treated fairly in this society.
He started to focus more and more on labor and the right of the working class in this country. He was murdered while preparing to demonstrate in support of worker's rights.
