Well, now it's a little too late. This is something that should have been done in 2008 after gasoline prices dropped again. The next opportunity will be when gasoline goes back down again.

Put $25,000 to $100,000 into UGA.

Right now, what you can do is work with smaller amounts ($1000 or so) and DCA on DIPS.

Gas is super cheap right now. All you need is one dime minted prior to 1964 to buy a gallon. Back in 1931 was the lowest, at 0.17/gal. It's cheaper now than it was then.

I would like to think you were kidding when you asked this.

Part of the reason that we are bombing Libya is to keep gas prices artificially high. Getting involved in the civil wars of other nations has nothing to do with freedom or democracy, etc. You will notice that we could care less about African countries going through their growing pains (Darfur, Chad, Sudan...)

The only wars we care about are the ones that involve oil.

And no, Obama is NOT doing everything to keep the price of oil down. Who do you think he works for? The same people who own the oil companies, silly.

Gas prices are directly tied to how strong or weak our dollar is ... A weak dollar drives the price up .. a strong dollar drives the price down.

To look at it another way .. A weak dollar means we pay less back to China .. A strong dollar means we pay more back to China ..

Either way .. we're still screwed ..

It's amazing that whoever created that image completely neglects economics.

Of course he isnt. In fact, he isnt even trying to get the prices low. He doesnt want them low, nor do most Leftists in power.

Im sick of hearing about all these lies on how even if we could drill it would take years to get the oil. That is bs. There are places we could drill that we could have oil within about 6 months. But this administration doesnt want any new drilling. They dont want us to the large amount of oil that are in our lands, within our shores.

All we would have to do is announce today that we are going to allow drilling and the prices would start to drop.

This man and those who surround him care more about their radical agenda than they do actually helping this country and its people.

absolutely, bucslose!

i am going to repost because i could have put it in this forum first because it is most applicable here;

is there anyone out there who hasn't figured out that obama is INTENTIONALLY sabotaging the economy?

who does this????? (with specific credit to denninger and also several of our posters here)

Forget it folks. Just forget it.

Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits.

There's always risk of government regulation. But when the government leases you something for a specific purpose and then refuses to let you use it for the purpose you leased it, that's outright fraud.

Shell has spent five years and nearly $4 billion dollars on plans to explore for oil in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. The leases alone cost $2.2 billion.

The United States Federal Government stole $2.2 billion from Shell Oil.

Shell has absolutely no reason to tolerate this sort of thing. I wouldn't. Neither would you. That $2.2 billion will be priced back into their products and they will refuse to engage in further drilling activity where this can happen again.

i want people to REALLY stop and think about why would someone who was "hired" to represent us engage in the kind of behavior that he has? why would you screw over any opportunities that you would have to become more energy independent????

enraging the saudis when they have given us plentiful cheaper oil is also not in the best interest of the american economy. i think most people understand that high gas prices are incredibly detrimental to any attempt at economic recovery.

let me add a comment i saw on a blog site(credit to claire voyant)

wheels are coming off, thanks to oil that is now unaffordably priced for anyone having to run the manufacturing and transportation systems profitably — in other words, anyone operating in the real economy. Although the casino speculative economy *loves*it. In the real economy, with inflation surging, unemployment rampant and countless people living payment-free in their hopelessly underwater houses living the illusion of normalcy until the marshal comes with an eviction notice, deleveraging continues apace. The value of labor, of real estate, of cars (now not propped up by Cash for Clunkers) and of cash savings especially — in short, the value of real things needed to survive in the real world — continues to decline. (Can’t tell you how many emails our online vintage jewelry business gets every day from people wanting to sell heirloom pieces … they won’t sell for anywhere close to what they would have fetched pre-crash).

i think that is summed up very nicely, and who doesn't see that this is true?????
