If those are the 2 choices you see, then you're in need of some education as well. I don't want to limit anyone's speech, I want a person to be able to exercise their right to free speech without having some ignorant goon attack them physically.

We're talking about civilized humans here, not animals that attack when provoked. The consequences of a comment should be a return comment, not a physical attack... then again I am talking about civilized humans.
It was probably the same trashy person who did the same to me saying "There are consequences". It's quite funny that the same people who claim to stand up for themselves no matte what and not take anything from anyone would hide behind an anonymous comment like a little ***** and not even leave a name.
I'd hate to be them. I hate racism, sexism, homophobia, and any other kind of bigotry...but that doesn't mean I'll stick up for people who "defend" themselves with physical violence. Violence comes from the same low-grade level of thought that bigotry does—and of course, I'm referring to people who throw the first punch, not those who fight back in response.
Then you'll die, or let a family member die, because you're "evolved".
We're animals, too many people forget that that's what we are, first and foremost.
No I won't, I'm prepared to defend myself physically against anyone who attempts to hurt or kill me or my family... a person calling me a name doesn't in any way harm or threaten my safety, an educated person knows that. We're not talking about defending yourself against a physical attack, we're talking about using physical violence to "defend" against a verbal "attack". Only a complete fool would hit someone who called them a name they didn't like.
To do so, you'd have to accept your savage nature, and you claim to be "evolved".
There's nothing savage about defending myself from a physical attack with a self defense weapon or tactic, unlike the savage act of attacking someone who merely made a comment you didn't like.
So i should allow a person to just say anything to me without any consequences, and just let it ride?

Presuming you have language skills and any sort of wit, you can respond to speech with speech.
If you act like an animal and physically assault someone on the basis of a comment, you will go to jail, where you can learn just how NOT TOUGH you are compared to some of the bubbas that are in those places. They might not take kindly to a black man who got an education cause he's trying to be white, know what I'm sayin'?
