You never care about race until one of your family members dates outside of it.
I'm Black, and so is my family. My younger sister is dating a White guy. It doesn't bother me one bit. My father is a bit skeptical about it, but he hasn't hounded my sister about it. No one else in the family has any problems with it.
Didn't the same dynamics exist under British colonial rule in Africa and the Caribbean? Interestingly, many black British women and white British men do not seem to have the same issues as their American counterparts...
Coming from the UK and being brought up in the late 50's and 60's there when many Black families came to the UK from the Carribean etc. as we desperately needed to fill the jobs in the newly created NHS and accompanying industries etc i have seen the changes there towards interacial marriage .
As here in the USA there was a lot of racial tension but as the years have passed this is now less prevalent. Wherever you live whether USA or UK you will always get the racists. Big difference in the UK is that the Political parties that used to promote racism have been shunned by the majority in the UK and are just radical parties for the right wing nut jobs and not taken seriously.
Interacial dating and marriage in the UK is now a accepted everyday thing and very very few pay any attention to it. Most in the UK realise that color does not determine the person.
I am White and have dated Black girls with absolutely no problems from others in society there..... we are ALL people and why should extra melanin in the skin make any difference as to who we are.
Peel the colour away and we are all exactly the same.............. Good and Bad in all races, religions etc.
Unfortunately racism is promoted here politically and someone's color is still used in the USA as something to define someone and is at best stupid and at worst moronic.
YES the UK is far more accepting of intermarriage between white Men and black Women or even Black Men and White Women.............. why shouldn't it be?
Black American culture is very different and black people actually alot different here than in other parts of the world. Overseas black folks are usually more considered norma
l by how they behave.

I'm not saying racism doesn't exist because I've though more than my share but the American culture is a good part of the problem.
You're Jamaican! As a fellow Jamaican, I am ashamed of you, how dare you judge all American Blacks as one-you are ignorant. So people have the right to judge you as a ghetto, banana boat, third world immigrant. I was never taught not to date American Black women and I have dated some good ones, so speak for yourself. No wonder we can't get anywhere as a race, some Black people (like you) come here and have this attitude that they are better than Black Americans-you know what, walk down the street and tell me what other races see you as-no one can see your nationality but they can certainly see your color and to them you are a Black American. Have you been to Jamaica lately, tell me how our culture is better than Black Americans?
Bottom line is white men respect women a heck of a lot more than black men do.....
Wow, what a way to make a broad-sweeping statement.
