Well, it would appear now that Ron Paul's views are increasingly seen as "making sense", both the left & the right are trying real hard to discredit him. Nothing strikes fear inside a democrat or republican more than someone coming and upsetting their traitorous apple-cart.

It is very easy to argue monetary policy with someone who backs the gold standard. Ask the simple question of how do you combat deflation when the supply of goods and services severely out paces the supply of gold.
That is the 800 pound gorilla gold standard backers cannot face.
"Deflation" is a term applicable to fiat and credit "money".
Now, let's take a look at commodity money.

Just an FYI - You're the only person talking about Newt, this thread is about Ron Paul and Byrd... but since the *******s around here want to change the subject and bring up other well known Democrats let's talk about Fred Phelps.
Fred Phelps, the well known leader of the Westboro Baptist Church... yeah, remember him? He's run as a DEMOCRAT for a few different offices and clearly picked up a few supporters on the Democrat side of the isle... why do Democrats support such a hate monger?

Also the leading producer of gold in the world is CHINA.
