What Really Divides Us? by Rep. Ron Paul

Quote:
The real reason liberals hate the concept of states' right has nothing to do with racism, but rather reflects a hostility toward anything that would act as a limit on the power of the federal government.
Quote:
Still, the left argues that stringent federal laws are needed to combat racism, always implying of course that southern states are full of bigoted rednecks who would oppress minorities if not for the watchful eye of Washington. They ignore, however, the incredible divisiveness created by their collectivist big-government policies.
Quote:
By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called "diversity" actually perpetuate racism. Their intense focus on race is inherently racist, because it views individuals only as members of racial groups.
Quote:
The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims.
But progressives love the KLANSMAN:

Sen. Robert Byrd not only was a KKK member but led his local Klan chapter | The Daily Caller

Quote:
Byrd joined the Klan at the ripe young age of 24 — hardly a young’un by today’s standards, much less those of 1944, when Byrd refused to join the military because he might have to serve alongside “race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds,” according to a letter Byrd wrote to Sen. Theodore Bilbo at the height of World War II.

You'll find more Republicans bashing Paul than you will liberals. Paul is extremely economically conservative but socially moderate (if not for the abortion issue he'd be socially liberal)

That's funny, I've seen at least 4 threads in here today bashing Ron Paul and they're all started by liberals...

Liberals hate Ron Paul because they know he's smarter than they are, there's no way around that.

They must be worried this time. I don't recall this being done when Paul ran in 2008.

You mean the same Ron Paul who was demonized by his fellow Republicans during the 08' primaries for suggesting that US foreign policy played a role in the build-up to the attacks of 9/11?

No, the left attacked Paul in 2008 with the racism BS, it's their only real line of defense against Paul since liberals aren't smart enough to argue monetary policy.

It is very easy to argue monetary policy with someone who backs the gold standard. Ask the simple question of how do you combat deflation when the supply of goods and services severely out paces the supply of gold.

That is the 800 pound gorilla gold standard backers cannot face.

Robert Byrd's racial issues are ancient history. Ron Paul's are current. Big difference.

You're right, there is a big difference.

Byrd's racial issues were real. From his time in the Klan to the willingly blind eye Democrats turned to his past. Paul's are twisted fabrications by a group that's desperate to discredit him.
