Should US roads have posted speed limits that are enforced with tickets if speeding? (own, thought)

US roads do have posted speed limits and they are enforced with tickets. Of course, the degree of enforcement varies immensely.

I know they already have these speed limits. The question was hypothetically asking whether we really should have these speed limits or if we should keep them.
