I have this book, I need to finish reading it this summer now that I'm out school.
Hazlitt was a financial journalist, not an academic economist. The book is an introduction to the economic theories of the Austrian School aimed at the educated lay reader. Hazlitt was amongst the first non-Austrians to believe in Austrian School theories. Today, there are very few Austrians who believe in "Austrian economics".

I'd also agree that the US is highly corrupt on the higher levels of corruption which you touch upon, but Greece is more corrupt on the blatant, lower levels of corruption. Greek corruption is hardly new ; why do you think Greeks have done really, really well in every country in the world that they're in except for Greece itself?

It takes an large, overbloated, and an over-extending government to pursue such ridiculous policies.
However, some people would like to believe that our government is too humble and not large enough, yet we have an empire around the globe. They will go on to argue that making our government bigger, will make them more happier. It's insane.

I am just finishing up the book and I can see how Hazlitt was an influence Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell, and many others. I can't believe that I have been studying economics for almost a decade and have just recently come across Hazlitt's works.
The book was written in 1946 and highlights a plethora of economic fallacies that are still being practiced and perpetuated by today's economists. It is a remarkable short and simple theoretical exposition which contains many economic truths.
I would rank it up there with Bastiat's The Law.
Add Progress and Poverty by Henry George to your list, it is the missing classical liberal piece of the pie.

First, you post in regards to your "studying" for 10 years in economics, and this IS YOUR FIRST TIME reading or hearing of Hazlitt? Then when I point out that this is another "Austrian" school post you reply with...what was it...oh yes

If you've been studying economics for 10 years as you claim then you should or would have heard of not only the "Austrian" school theories, but Hazlitt and many of the others as well. And if you've heard of the others, then you would of have to of heard of Hazlitt.
Your OP was a blatant attempt to "troll" comments and arguments re: Austrian theories and modern day economic theories and situations. It's okay, you can admit it. We all know that's what you're attempting to do surreptitiously, but are not doing it very well at all.
Instead, next time ask "Finished new book re:XXX. Want to argue positions about it?!"
