Nah the planet will survive but it may be uninhabitable for humans when all is said and done.

Humans are very adaptable. Their industrial civilization less so.

Pretty much. You won't find me agreeing that the ACOE has sucessfully tamed any of the rivers. The harm done by erosion and periodically devistaing floods may well be worse than allowing these rivers to spread, flood and change course naturally.

Since the beginning of time man has done one thing that differentiates himself from nearly every other species on the planet, that is to control his environment. Governments go overboard on this, IMO. YMMV.

What we do know for certain is that the solar activity is in a heightened period and that anyone arguing Man made global warming quickly dismisses this cycle as well as that of the migration of the earth's magnetic poles. Why? The political agenda which drives the theory of man made global warming (pc: climate change) of course.

Its called not letting the forestry service do its job and clear dead trees over the years in controlled burns. Now we got matchsticks lighting up more matchsticks. All to save the forests.

Implementing solutions when you do not fully understand the issue and causes is not simply unscientific, but it is foolish.

Exactly, but as soon as climate change or global warming enters the headlines, ther OP could not resist the negative spin on it.

Hey OP...

UN scientists meet to decide best way to destroy the planet as opposed to oil cartel lobbyists meet with and grease the palms of corrupt politicians to decide the best ways to save the planet...right?

If your referencing forest fires one of the reasons they are so devastating over the last few decades is because we have prevented fires over the last 100 years. There is a vast accumulation of fuel on the ground and this causes very hot and long fires that sterilize the forest floor. Forests fires are natural event and in the past before mans intervention they happened frequently. These fires would move quickly through a forest burning yp the little bit of fuel that accumulated since the last fire, actually quite beneficial and really essential to the health of a forest.
