She should have not mentioned their sexuality, but she was perfectly justified in making them leave even from a purely secular standpoint because they were engaged in inappropriate public displays of affection.
Why was it evident to him that they were gay? I have noticed that gay people seem to need attention too often. Public displays are not generally welcomed by straight or gay. Gay peole need to understand they are a minority and hopefully will remain a minority and we simply don't want our children faced with their process.
