i dress normally and have never been to a parade, because i live in a rural state that doesn't have them.

I don't understand why all 'gay's are to be blamed for every little thing every gay person does that you don't like.

should i blame my parents and bro and sister about mardis gras?

I don't know what you'd want me to do

travel to every city that has a parade and speak to each individual person?

How would I have time to work etc.?

Yes, actually they usually are, as they are disgusted by ADULT MEN and are NOT attracted to them.

The names should be changed to take the word "pride" out and replace it with something more appropriate.

It's about having pride in who you are, just like straight people get to have every day.

I'd rather see the word "gay" removed. Even calling it "Q u e e r Pride" would be an improvement since it's the more bizarre characters who are the highlights of these events.

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a parade in my honor. I'm still waiting, though. In my Clark Kent outfit.

You don't need one, society doesn't psychologically abuse you to be ashamed of yourself for being born hetero

I was struck by the dress and "costumes" of many of the participants. Men were dressed like women and women were dressed like men. Gay couples were dressed in traditional bride's and groom's clothing, mimicking the role of a male and female in marriage. Then there was the componant of men dressed in women's lingerie and leather apparel.

For any gays here, I am a little confused. I would offer that if I dressed in women's lingerie or black leather S&M clothing and paraded around the streets of our city, or in our neighborhood, I might be viewed as a deviant and a pariah. I can guarantee you that such behavior would be met with scorn and derision (as it should be).

I guess I am asking- how can the gay community demand "acceptance" by the heterosexual community and presume that the gay community is no different than the rest of the society with regard to social and ethical norms? I suppose that if one is trying to promote the image of deviance, dressing in women's clothing (if a male) and parading around in lingerie and leather might be just the ticket. However, if one is seeking incorporation into the general community and universal acceptance, perhaps this is not the best method.
I couldn't read any replies to you from THEM before I said that you hit them right in the nose or whatever body part they prefer to be hit in. Your post makes too much sense to avoid and go on reading.

Clark Kent? Superman? Well, you may be able to fit right in at Comic Con...although there are scantily clad people there too...

actually it makes no sense, since I"m gay and i don't care whether strangers accept me or not, and i have no idea what a parade that i've never been to has to do with me or how it's my responsibility to answer FOR the parade in any way simply because I'm gay.
