They are currently trying to cut a deal with the state.

Just one more reason not to do business in the dying state...
More mindless California bashing. Several other states have passed the same law, and yes, even Texas has gone after Amazon for not collecting sales taxes, so I guess you shouldn't do business with any of those other states either.

I would say these three are equally the bright spots. West Texas is dying, San Antonio has little to offer outside of tourism and as for anything south of that imaginary line that extends from Corpus to Laredo (including these two cities) nobody cares in Austin.

Keep in mind also that when United and Continental merged, the company chose to stay in evil, socialist, former Obama territory otherwise known as Chicago as opposed to business friendly Houston. Not to mention Dallas also lost its bid to bring Boeing there to that awful city of Chicago.

just because you can name companies that exist in locations doesn't make them just as good for business as another place. so if a business moves from houston to chicago, chicago's all of a sudden just as good, if not better, than houston for business? because judging by uhaul migration patterns and judging by growth and industry, it pretty much proves that houston kicks chicago in the nuts.

If you ever purchase anything through an '800', '877', '866' phone number, your first question should be- Are you or the product I'm purchasing located in California? If they say yes, hang up.

You do realize you won't be taxed if you don't live in California, right?

I get the impression that a lot of you don't understand how this law works.

I agree, people are missing the point.

If you live in California and buy something from Amazon you will get taxed as if Amazon was a Brick and Mortar store (physical location). It is not only Amazon. It is all online retailers who do not already collect tax in the state of California.

Other states are/will be passing similar taxes.

No one is happy about it.

It was good while it lasted but most people knew this was going to happen. Death and Taxes...
