I wouldn't broadcast that so much if I were you. After all, your fellow RWs are always complaining about the lazy, immoral louts who pay no federal income tax.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Three reasons
1. They didn't have the balls to stand up to Bush and/or...
2. Some are lying hypocrites who are picking a battle because they hate the president and want to see him a one termer (McConnell and Cantor)
3. We also have the Tea Party fanatics for whom reason is not their strong suit.

I think it's a mixture of all three. I personally think that if Boehner didn't have the tea party caucus to deal with, striking a deal would be a little bit easier--not by much, but it'd be a little easier.

American politicians? Pfffffft...yea, that's why we're in Afghanistan and Iraq. Because we've learned so well from our past.

And then they learn to hide such mistakes in fancier covers.

That talking point is getting old. Simply put we take in a certain amount of year. Our expenditures should match the amount of revenues. There the deficit is closed
