Hard right conservatives, do you think it's really a good idea to cut 2.5 trillion out of the economy? Or do you think its not good enough, that we should cut even more, and that will help the economy?
It would be quite easy to cut 9 trillion over the next 10 years.
Stop all wars including the war on drugs, cut military 50%, cut DEA 90%, cut ATF 90%, cut FEMA 90%, eliminate ALL subsidies...... that would easily get 900 billion per year.
Would you rather have a nice christmas, eat great food all December, have a big feast, plenty of presents, etc. all bought on credit cards. And then spend the rest of the year without heat or electricity and scrounge through garbage cans for food? Or would you rather forgo the presents, skip the feast, eat rice and beans and peanut butter sandwiches and keep the heat turned down, wear a sweater and know that when summer time rolls around you'll have saved enough money to start living a little less frugally? We can't afford to run up more debts, we have to cut spending. I think we can tax the higher tax brackets more, but we have to cut entitlement spending included.
5 year pay freezes for government workers, cut jobs through attrition, cut programs. The private sector will pick up the slack and do it more efficiently for less and hire people to do it. And (horrors) churches will be the ones stepping up to help people in need. It'll be damn hard to rail against God and religion when they're giving you food and clothing but I'm sure some will still find the nerve to do it.
See today's stock market. The tea-baggers are nuts.
The market is reacting to the tea baggers not getting what they want

We need people to spend money (drives economy and without jobs no can do), but we also need taxes raised. If you cut off people's ability to spend, you have no spending. Well, it makes sense if you stop to think about it.
It absolutely makes no sense. If you take more money from peoples pocket through higher taxes, why are they going to spend more?
Entitlement reform needs to happen, enough with these cuts that just ignore the long term issue. Unfortunately it can't happen because whichever party proposes the cuts will be vilified by the other.

Hard right is out for anything that would make the current administration look bad. Even if it contridicts with their values, goals, what's-good-for-the-country, etc.
Just what does someone from southern california know about the values of traditional conservative americans? Shouldn't you just stick indoctrinating us all with liberal/leftist values?

ALL of that need to happen, one part or the other isn't going to help. We've got to work on everything.
If entitlement reform doesn't happen, everything else is just a waste of time. We need politicians who are willing to focus on that, Medicare and Medicaid especially.

“…Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other retiree programs constitute roughly half of non-interest federal spending. These transfers have become so huge that, unless checked, they will sabotage America’s future. The facts are known: By 2035, the 65-and-over population will nearly double, and health costs remain uncontrolled; the combination automatically expands federal spending (as a share of the economy) by about one-third from 2005 levels. This tidal wave of spending means one or all of the following: (a) much higher taxes; (b) the gutting of other government services, from the Weather Service to medical research; (c) a partial and dangerous disarmament; (d) large and unstable deficits.”
ALL of that need to happen, one part or the other isn't going to help. We've got to work on everything.
Except for the idiotic call for yet more taxes, you're mostly correct. WE DO NOT NEED NOR WILL WE BENEFIT FROM RAISING TAXES. It's a call from people who know NOTHING ABOUT ECONOMICS.
