In the thread about poor people complaining about childcare getting expensive, I asked why it seems that the people who say minimum wage workers shouldn't have kids are the same ones who think minimum wage workers should pay more taxes.

Someone replied that it was off topic and I should take it to a new thread. So here it is. Can anyone explain this conundrum?

I'm not clamoring for higher taxes on the poor, but what does one have to do with the other?

I just thought there was some irony in someone saying that a person making $15K shouldn't have kids and also that the person making $15K isn't paying enough taxes.

Not really. The tax argument is based on fairness, equal tax rates and what not.

They simply don't like poorer people and want to see them gone or punished, no matter which way.

Jon Stewart - who baggies love so much - explains why it 700 Billion of rescinding tax cuts is "nothing" but a million off NPR (or some skin off the poor) is sooooo huge 'cause "we need to start somewhere". Basically, as he explains "F the poor":

You should only have children if YOU can afford to raise them.

Everyone should pay taxes, but as it is, the ones who want the "rich" to pay more taxes (to help those who don't pay taxes) are likely the 50% who don't pay any.

The tax rate based on the inverse of one's hours engaged in useful labor producing goods and/or services would have interesting results.
Per week:
Work 60 hours, 1/60 is your tax rate. (1.6%)
Work 40 hours, 1/40 is your tax rate. (2.5%)
Work 30 hours, 1/30 is your tax rate. (3.3%)
Work 0 hours, special case : 90% tax rate.
(Politicians and bureaucrats who do nothing useful come under this category)

I believe people should not have kids if they cannot afford it. However, I don't believe they should pay higher taxes.

I do believe that poor people shouldn't have more kids. And I also believe that no one should receive more of a refund than they've paid in.
