Obama is a neocon, by any rational measure. He believes in apply U.S. force to help spread democracy - just like a Cheney-ite. We've bombed 5 different countries this past year, and anyone who thinks we should cut that back to one or two is now called an isolationist. It's amazing what a pass this guy gets.

Obama is Bush's third term, in every worst way.

But it's ok to do that in Libya?? This guy is beyond belief anymore. Apparently this is how one earns a Nobel Peace Prize. If we go into Syria next for some more kinetic intervention he could be a two time winner!!
what are you talking about Libya is a diffrent war than afghanistan you see enforcing a no fly zone but not having ground troops means we need to use air strikes and the rebels in Libya are doing fighting on the ground..

We have no business remaining in Afghanistan. Ever goal we originally had was met. We do not need to insure they have a thriving experience after we leave, nor is that even possible.

I don't see or hear much from him. The military people are doing their jobs - but Obama for the most part is disengaged.
Because Obama does not call you personally and brief you on Afghanistan you assume he's not doing anything? Read Woodward's "Obama's War" if you care to actually know and understand where he's coming from as commander in chief.

Our goal there, boxcar, is to get the Afghan forces to a level of proficiency to where they can defend themselves and keep Taliban elements from retaking the country when we leave.

I always supported the pacification and stabilization of Afghanistan, to the extent that was possible. Lives have and will be regrettably lost in that effort.

But at least they weren't wasted on an unnecessary and costly invasion and occupation of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11...at least until we invaded.
Agreed.

Exhibit A - Afghanistan

Casualties under Bush from 2001-2008 - 630
Casualties under Obama from 2009 - present - 1122

There is just not the same media scrutiny and attention as there was under the predecessor.
Yeah, he doubled the troops. You put more meat into the grinder, you get more out.

You won't hear the mainstream media on the left counting dead soldiers, on the nightly news with 0bama as our president.

0bama does not want to win the war, he is just treading water until he can dump this all off on the next president.

If 0bama would have declared in Jan 2009, that enough precious American soldier's blood has been spilled for a corrupt Afghan government, and he vowed to only train the Afghan military and then pull out, I'd have had more respect for him.

Instead, 0bama send less then the minimum number of troops requested by his generals, and more men have died because they have too little support, and spread out too thin. 0bama demands a 6 egg omelet with two eggs, not because it makes a good omelet, but because it will look like he is trying to make one.

you are wrong, it's what happens when your president demands the military do more, and then deny them even the minimum number of troops to get it done.

I'm just pointing out the fact that no one is highlighting this - that's all.
