Bush's Former Oil Company Linked To bin Laden Family

Bush's Former Oil Company
Linked To bin Laden Family

When President George W. Bush froze assets connected to Osama bin Laden, he didn't tell the American people that the terrorist mastermind's late brother was an investor in the president's former oil business in Texas. He also hasn't leveled with the American public about his financial connections to a host of shady Saudi characters involved in drug cartels, gun smuggling, and terrorist networks.

Doing business with the enemy is nothing new to the Bush family. Much of the Bush family wealth came from supplying needed raw materials and credit to Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. Several business operations managed by Prescott Bush - the president's grandfather - were seized by the US government during World War II under the Trading with the Enemy Act.

The United States was behind OBL. The U.S.-OBL link soured after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan had been rebuffed by the OBL led (and other organizations) insurgency that kicked the Soviets out of that country. OBL and those groups were funded largely from the United States. The funding dried up after that war and OBL then designated the U.S. as the main enemey (he had a whole host of reasons for targeting the U.S.).

In the case of G.W. Bush and his grandpappy, Prescott, the elder Bush here was notorious for trading with the enemy, which was a violation of federal law. The questionable thing about it is -- would conservatives have given Clinton or any other democrat a free pass if one of their family members had traded with the enemy?

Further, I think the Bush-Middle East connections, and the latest info about Ghaddafi's love affair with Condie Rice provides ample evidence as to Republican collusion with Middle Eastern dictators and autocrats (and there's a long history here of U.S. support for totalitarian leaders in the so-called "third world").

In short, U.S. foreign policy is oftentimes short-sighted and causes problems well on down the road. The current GWOT is the legacy of past stupid foreign policy decisions on part of the U.S. government. Republicans were not the only ones guilty for crafting such poor policies, blame can also be directed at Truman, JFK, LBJ, Carter, and Clinton. But in the case of the Republicans, their links to Middle Eastern autocrats and dictators revovles around making money through business connections.

Money talks, everything else walks! Human rights -- well some Americans would claim it's just not profitable.
