I take Snopes research with a grain of salt. The wife participates on an e-mail discussion list I subscribe to, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bit of a lefty slant in their work.

Why? But then, I take it from your post that you'd consider that email discussion list to be legit.
Snopes is definitely a left wing rag that purposely lies. I've known this for a long time.
I have noticed they were always fishy about things. They don't research their facts well and when an issue is blatantly obvious to the facts, yet is of a position that is uncomfortable for the left, it always says "partially true" and then goes through tons of hoops to imply it really isn't true anyway. *chuckle*
I don't trust any website that claims to be an unbiased source of truth and fact-checking. Most of them have a clear agenda but if you're a liberal you'll think that sites like snopes are legit because they validate your beliefs.
No, I think snopes is legit because they cite their sources and their sources are legitimate.
I know for a fact that WND is not legit because they persistently post things that I know not to be true or that everyone finds out are not true, and then quietly scrub the discredited garbage from their website without an explanation or apology. I've been reading WND since around 1999 and that's their modus operandi.
