Here we go with everyone taking things out of context to further their own agenda. If you are black, YES, you ARE a person of color, as would be a hispanic person.
Everyone's race card was revoked in 2008 when we elected a black president. YOu officially do not get to complain about racism anymore. Funny how people seem to convienently forget what the "C" stands for in NAACP.
I see. Because we voted a Black man for president, all the racism in our country has magically disappeared. So that's how it works!
I think it is stupid for any race to call themselves african-american .You are either an american or african your not both.I have no trouble with brining back the term colored.
Ok...give it a shot. I HOPE LIKE HELL that you run across me and use the term in reference to myself. I'll make damn sure that you'll have one of your worse days in recent memory. You'll have some hurt ass feelings. I'll make sure of that.
Glenn Beck is in minute 14.5 of his allotted 15 minutes.
It scares the hell out of him, so expect his rhetoric to get even more shrill and ridiculous for the next .5 proverbial hours.
Then, thankfully, he will probably drink himself to death. Mormon style, with cases of Natural Light.
Seems like you're the one with issues. When you post nonsense like this other people see you for what you are. I'm guessing you're one of those enlightened liberals?
Aren't most black people really shades of brown anyway? Where does black come from? And, as was pointed out a couple times in this thread: NAAColoredP.
It's all quite bizarre but you wouldn't want to stop another Glenn Beck bashfest, would you? Even though he never said anything like what's being claimed. Funny stuff.
Guess we should start calling White people beige, tan, and peach while we're at it!

LOL...amazing. Some people, i swear.
And why not give it a shot and I HOPE LIKE HELL that you run across me and the term African American in reference to myself or my family. I'll make damn sure that you'll have on of the worse days in all your memory.
I didn't present an argument against Beck. I said more than once that he's free to think and say what he wants. He can use colored all he wants so long as he doesn't use it with me.
And what they say in Africa has no bearing here. That's their business. Here in this country, we have different customs.
That is the thing where you are showing your lake of basic understanding. he didnt say to call anyone colored. Is that hard to understand.. well, I guess it is for you

How about intelligently addressing my comment rather than be silly? FWIW, I'm Caucasian, not "white".
And what's with the internet bravado and threats, desertdetroiter? You one of those internet tough guy/bullies? Can you not have a conversation without making threats and pumping your chest out (anonymously) online?
It was formed in 1909, in a bygone era where racism was accepted and prevalent.
It is now 2011. If you cannot accept that things have changed then that is YOUR problem. It is no longer 1909, and Beck's race baiting only works like a dog whistle to those who tune in to his nonsense.
Maybe you should take the trouble to read all of what I posted in this thread before posting tripe like this. Or do you have difficulty following complex threads?

I'm all for hyphens, lest we forget.
Most people would consider me "white." I don't have a "deadly past" though, nope. Unless you are referring to the fact that people on Europe wanted to see my mother's family dead and people in the Middle East wanted to see my father's family dead. No that doesn't sound like what you meant - again, too complex.

Why are we always defining other races in terms of whiteness? Non-white, colored, of color. Maybe we should turn the tables and start calling white people in terms of their blackness--non-black, colorless, or bleached.

call me black.. is not defining me in terms of whiteness. What is wrong with excepting me as an American who happens to be black?
