Back in 1990, I saw 5 palm readers in India, 4 told me I'd die at age 82, one at 83, reading my lifeline.
At the stroke of midnight on my 82nd birthday, can you imagine what my stress level will be like, or the entire year, their just giving me that approximation!
When? When? Blowing out those 82 candles the next day? 11:45pm on the eve of my 83rd birthday? Was that 5th palm reader more accurate? One more year?
In the Far East it's been said: Every day you don't contemplate your own death is a totally wasted day!
Thinking about death, and reading the obituary column every day, as I do, can be extremely energizing!
The obit's that energize me the most are those dying very close to age 65. thinking: Did they put that trip to the Great Wall or Macchu Picchu off until they retired, with many opportunities to do it much earlier? How much more did they put off, banking on doing it after they retired, and they could have done it earlier?
Me? The energy that was created in thinking about death, led me to do all my foreign travels, and get them all behind me, ascribing to that proverb: Nothing brings you closer to eternity/death than travel.
I'm well-ready for my final flight to the unknown, but with this last flight, won't need a passport, visa or have to deal with TSA agents!

Anyway, do you think about your imminent death or do you prefer not to think about it?
I happen to agree with you when you say that it's not healthy to be in denial about death. I acknowledge that it's going to happen, and for that reason, I don't spend any time worrying about it. Whenever it comes, it comes. Quite literally, c'est la vie!
